Did I mishear that, or was there a surprise #22 retirement ceremony this weekend?

HOLY SHIT!! THEY ARE DOING IT!!


I had given up hope that it would happen. It has been a couple generations now that he last played for the Giants (26 years!), so it was clear they would not do it, but they did.

I'd argue that both of those guys had red flags. D-Rod was not striking anyone out and giving up a lot of fly balls, but little homeruns. He was likely to regress (although I was hoping he wouldn't be this bad). Mac has serious pop, but can't lift the ball (hits too many grounders) and he chased a lot.

Yaz hasn't shown too many red flags yet, maybe a bit aggressive.

To be fair, though, he didn’t want to leave for Texas. The Giants were just tired of his loud personality and wanted to move on, so forced him out the door. Bad move by the org, but it was what it was.


As for his going to St Louis, I actually liked the move. He was a great fit there filling in for Mac and actually did quite well for them, iirc...
