I have always been a fan Mike Rowe, so was looking into his new show. I found a few articles that are super concerned about some of his funding from the energy sector.

Even the most critical of it point out he never talks about climate change, but he does end some episodes pointing out everything the energy sector helps run.

My question is. Does it matter who funds your show if they don't have editorial control?

Doesn't answer your question but I saw an episode on the Discovery channel as part of a free preview (his new show is a Discovery+ exclusive).

It sucks.

I like most of Mike's shows but this isn't good. It really strains to make the leaps between subjects at times and its all rather dry and boring.

So the fossil fuel industry wasted their money

I don’t know what his new show is about. But everybody has to pay the bills.

It’s not like he’s a politician.

Was a huge fan of The Most.

That is a shame. I will still check it out, I like most things he does.

It's like playing 6 Degrees Of Kevin Bacon but with every day things and their history. For example, one episode is about how hungry soldiers in the 1800s led to how TV shows get made today. So in playing the 6 degrees game, it takes six steps to get from soldiers to producing TV shows.
