I know you were limiting the list to the current 130 FBS teams, but since you started watching football games in 1971 there have been a number of schools that were FBS-equivalent during that period that have since dropped down to another classification or discontinued football altogether.

Mind if we take a stab at which of those colleges you might have seen?

It's a very limited list of 11 teams: 9 current FCS, 1 D-III and 1 Quit playing football. You can try if you wish, but it's not part of this game. :)

I have seen Dayton play in football but not Fullerton State. However, I have seen the Titans play Baseball in the College World Series!

I have not seen Richmond, Idaho or Southern Illinois play football. However, I have driven through the Idaho Campus and did a walk-through of the Kibbie Dome. Of course, I have seen Duke play football multiple times.

Trinity, TX, was Division I-equivalent for a year or two in the late 1960s - early 1970s, but I think they had already dropped back into the small college ranks by 1971, and are now D-3. Former FBS schools from the 1970s and beyond that no longer play football include: Fullerton St., Long Beach St., College of the Pacific, UT-Arlington & Wichita St.;

West Texas St. was once D-1, but dropped to D-2 & is now known as West Texas A&M; all of the Ivy League schools were once Major College, as were former Eastern independents Villanova, Colgate & Holy Cross. Former SoCon members Richmond and William & Mary were also FBS-equivalent through much of the 1970s, and I believe The Citadel, Furman and Western Carolina were for a brief period before the the onset of the 1-AA split. Davidson was at the beginning of the decade before dropping to D-3 in FB.

Indiana St., Illinois St., Southern Illinois & Western Illinois were D-1 for a while, as was Tennessee St. Eastern Illinois may have been. And seven SWAC members attained that status for one year (1977). That's pretty much of the top of my head. I may have missed a team here & there.
