Absolutely great news.

The Cowboys have really formed into a cohesive unit and not be just a bunch individual talents.

I think Jason Garrett was a big part of that. He sure as heck comes across as a guy the players respect and love to play for.

1 good year and they pay him that much wow. Lets see what a 1st place schedule feels like next year. Back to 8-8 or 9-7. Dallas can have him and keep him.

I think it's okay news, but you're kinda right. A year ago, this guy was a joke. They go 12-4 with a playoff win, ESPN and the NFLN says this is a great signing, and the lemmings repeat exactly what they hear.

Again, it's okay news, but if it's fair to applause 12-4, it's fair to be weary of 8-8 three seasons in a row.

When Rex Ryan gets $5.5M per year the day before I see no problem giving Garrett $6M. How much are you paying your great coach??? oh, thats right...

Side note: It's amazing how much people overrate the first place schedule.

One playoff win and uncertainty about the long term effects on your overused HB, not sure if your star WR is coming back and you give this fool a deal like this, just shows that Jerry Jones head must be up Gov.Christie's ass!

Jerry needs to keep someone there as head coach that he can tell what to do and what he wants done.

5 Years $30 Extension For Garrett

5 years, $30?!

Doesn't he know Jerry Jones is rich? Should have held out for like $100

We know nothing about the actual wording. Would anyone be surprised if Jerry had an ( I can fire you anytime clause?) If any coach survives 5 years in Dallas, isn't that a recent record or something?

At least they didn't fire their winning coach like some teams.

The star receiver will be here for a long time and my momma can run behind that line. Dallas has been rebuilding for a few years now and Garrett played a big part in the success they've had. Yes this was a good signing. They also signed Marinelli as well for three years. This team is going to be better.

As a 49er fan you should keep a low profile about other teams head coaching decisions. In my estimate SF is right up there with Buffalo, Denver and Cleveland.

This is true. The niners are going to suck for a while.

First place schedule? You mean all 2 of those games that are based on where you finish in your division?

C'mon purguy. You do realize, as mentioned in the post above by JMR, that the 1st place schedule you speak of, is a 2 game difference. ONLY 2 games are determined by that said 1st place schedule.

So, because Dallas finished 1st, rather than 2nd, they play @GB and home versus Seattle. Rather than @Detroit and home versus AZ. Granted, those two games are big, but it's ONLY two games. Dallas beat Seattle in Seattle, so at home versus Seattle should be a win, right?

They won't be 8-8 because of your 1st place schedule theory.:pound:

Dallas did turn a corner this year ... So definitely it was the right move... I"m wondering about Dez now, do they franchise him ? Because there are some teams that would drop $ for him right now... In a BIG way... Does Dallas have the cap space to keep him around ? He's arguably the best receiver in the game right now...
