Why would they be interested in Boston catching prospect Blake Swihart when they have old man Carlos, old man Nieves, Cam Rupp, and Joseph (shit, maybe that's the answer but I guess there's no confidence in the last two). The priorities are all wrong. We need young slugging OFs and Hamels can give us that.
I saw where the Phils bolstered the farm by adding 28 year old LHP Anthony Vasquez ERA 8.90, 29 inns, 13 HRS in 2011 and 2012 brain surgery. He'll go far. Good luck to this guy anyway.
Here is the latest from ESPN and their take on the Phils. Apparently, the Phillies have admitted it is time to rebuild so these ESPN bumpkins are predicting Hamels goes, Utley goes, and hopefully we will finally unload Howard.
Philadelphia Phillies general manager Ruben Amaro Jr. expects Cole Hamels to start opener - ESPN
Do we really want Amaro at the helm to rebuild this team? Or is Gilick running the show and Amaro is nothing more then a puppet?
I agree Northeast, but this FO gave Howard and Utley and others these big contracts that have just hamstrung the rebuild effort. Now all of a sudden they decide to cut salaries. Dumbasses have painted themselves into a corner and then all of sudden realize they painted themselves into a corner.
