It worries me that the pundits on ESPN this morning are picking the 49ers as the one-non division winner that can make a deep run in the playoffs and go to Green Bay and win. When that happens is when the 49ers usually shit the bed. Hope that is not the case tonight.

49ers - 26
Titans - 23

Not much nice to say about Jimmy through 3 quarters. He's again making a game we should be 3+ possessions into a close game.

He's playing poorly. The whole team shit the bed though. Ridiculous penalties and a conversion on 3rd and 23? Are you kidding me? We gotta get rid of Ambry Thomas. Kittle can't get open today either Byard shut him down completely

On the surface 25 for 36 for 322 yards sounds very good but aside from the stunning collapse of the defense, 4 plays from Garoppolo killed the 49ers; the two picks, the huge miss to Juice on what should have been a td and the horrendous 4th down throw to Aiyuk where Garoppolo failed to read the defense correctly. Granted, that play only occurred because of a ridiculous false start by Williams on the previous play but Garoppolo needs to make those plays

49ers were very generous in that bad loss. Should have been up by more than 10-0 at halftime. They better beat Houston at home on Jan. 2 or forget about the playoffs. Either way, this is a mediocre and inconsistent team that is not a Super Bowl contender right now.

The defense had the Titans on lockdown until Jimmy gifted the Titans that 2nd Interception. The 1st Interception prevented us from being up 14-0; 10-0 at worst. The miss to Juice should have been 21-0 or 17-0 instead we had to settle for a FG and go up only 10-0.

Then after it took the Titans 13 plays to move 55 yards for just a FG our QB gifts the Titans all the momentum they needed to get back into the game by throwing another Int on the first play. Essentially 3 bad plays turned a 21-0 game into a 10-10 game. Those type of mistakes can be excused by elite QB's because they will make plays to balance them out. Jimmy does not make plays to balance out his mistakes. A big play for Jimmy is Deebo, Aiyuk or Kittle turning his short pass into 20+ yards.

I wouldn't say Tannehill is elite but the way he moved up in the pocket and hit AJ Brown on that deep 3rd and Long pass is not something we ever see Jimmy do. That scramble on the final drive to get the 1st down and put them in FG range is not something we see Jimmy do. Those were not designed plays, but they were big plays. They also completely erased how terrible Tannehill was in the first half of the game.

Jimmy G simply gives the entire team almost no room for error because he's not capable of providing anything himself to overcome them.

Nonsense. The defense made a stunning collapse in the second half. Time after time they gave up third and long, more than a couple times it was more than 3rd and 10 including. A ridiculous third and 23 as well. They never make any plays at the end of the game. They simply cannot win a game because they have no ball hawks or clutch performers
Garoppolo had a huge role in the loss but I am sick to death of this defense which always collapses in the 4th quarter ever since the collapse in the super bowl two years ago

Agreed. The team just has no winners on it. They can close a game. Garoppolo has too many of these type games

Like i said, a team cannot make up for a struggling QB. This is just another inconsistent game from JG, and hence another loss.

Also, you can't help wonder if Shannahan's ability to counter move.............is poor? It seems like defenses adjust to him and he doesn't counter? Maybe that is why we struggle so much in the 4th quarters?

Shanahan has been exposed for a while now. Not just his failure to make adjustments but also he does not seem to understand that Garoppolo is most effective in play action. You can’t bout him back in shotgun the whole game and abandon the running game. This type of game from Garoppolo is happening to often.
Something has to be done about the philosophy of the defense. They don’t get any turnovers and never make a stop to win the game

Not going to be an easy game by any means vs. Houston next Sunday.

The season-ending injuries to Mostert and Verrett in Week 1 were significant.

Mitchell has done a good job, but his recent injuries have left Garoppolo exposed with lack of depth in the run game. The less Garoppolo has to throw the ball the better, especially passing downfield.

Seemed like Wilson was running well but Shanahan inexplicably abandoned the run game. Everyone knows you have to stick with the run game in order to be effective and try to wear the Defense down

No question and hence Trey Lance. If JG played this bad every 8th game we might have a chance, but this IS too close to a yo-yo. There are many other factors for losing 7 games but the QB is the key position. A team can't carry a QB, but a good QB can make up for some mistakes.

Trey Lance will also allow Shannahan more room to adjust/counter. More room to burn defenses with some longer passes and some to the outside. Right now defenses know when its 3rd and long the passes are going 8 yards between the numbers. We don't want Lance to throw a lot of deep balls but you need a few to send the message.

I bet a large part of his sudden ineptness had to do with the thumb. You all are going to get your wish this week so I hope you are happy with what you get.

Must have hurt it very early on.
No, he has been spotty with his accuracy prior to the last game

No. Just before the half on a sack. I showed earlier that he has been the most accurate passer in the league over the last 5 games and leads the league in yards per attempt during that period as well.
