Team came up with injury settlement and released Hunter. Too bad his career was derailed by injuries.

Yeah, he was a solid backup for Gore. I thought he could have been a solid starter.

To me he was a bit small to be a full time back but was great as a change of pace back. He looked good running before the injuries but with Mike Davis on the team I guess the writing was on the wall

I had a strong feeling with the emergence of Hayne that he would be the odd man out. Such a shame because he really looked good coming back from his first injury, yet probably needs at least another full year off to get back to trusting cuts and high impact. I have a feeling he could end up on somebody's IR if they are desperate.

Haven't checked yet but is he possible for the PS?
From what I've read the 49ers can't claim him for six months. If another team doesn't sign him during that period the Niners can then reclaim him

ii know Mike Davis didn't emerge....yet...but think he showed enough flashes where we'll move on from Hunter? In the off-season recall reading he was learning the blitz picks ok? IF i recall that correctly, no reason we shouldn't give him more reps next off season, and speed his development.

So this means that he cannot sign with the Niners, no matter what?

Assume Hyde is hurt more than we hope. Could the Niners sign him back to the active roster if they wanted?

THat was something of my line of asking about him ,if we had an injury issue.

No. The way I read the rules the 49ers cannot sign him under any circumstances until that period is over

49ers and RB Kendall Hunter agree to injury settlement
by Rotowire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
Running back Kendall Hunter (undisclosed) and the 49ers agreed to terms of an injury settlement Thursday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
After the preseason slate wrapped up, Hunter was suddenly placed on season-ending injured reserve. With an injury settlement in his back pocket, he has the ability to re-sign with the 49ers once he reaches the conclusion of the settlement, likely in six weeks' time.
