I think we use some to sign players we brought in on a one year deal that end up doing well for us. Maybe Edwards?

You mean now or later?

If now..they haven't proved it, yet.

If later...those numbers will change.

I assume some will be used for Gore and possible FA's that get cut on roster trimming.

On a side note, it's amazing that TB and KC have ~30mill under the cap given the talent that they already have. Shows what solid drafting will do for you.

They're gonna have to use a lot of that money on their own players if they want to keep them. I see a lot of extensions being given out before the season begins.

I mean as the season is going or when it is over. Whenever if ever they show they are a value to us. And gore will see some of that.

Rogers and Edwards are the two off the top of my head if they do really really well.

I can see those two don't know how I forgot them I was thinking of guys we drafted for some reason. And brooks stuck out cause of all the talk about him recently.

Gore's hit for this year should be minimal. It would only be the difference between the new extended contract less his existing one. His existing contact is already included in the cap space figure and coming off injury and factoring in his age he's not going to get anywhere near a CJ type contract.

Does anyone know the drop dead date when the minimum salary cap kicks in? Is it before the first game?

Maybe they will re-structure existing contracts to increase salaries this year so they can open up some space for next year and beyond. Thinking it would be a relatively small increase spread around to a large number of players if they do something like that.

I like this. Just slightly below the mid-point, it gives us a lot of 'book' flexibility, I would be curious to know where we stand in terms of actual payroll compared to other teams.

I would say at the beginning of the NFL year 2013, so perhaps March of '13?

We're in good shape. At the end of the year we can evaluate all these guys on 1 year contracts and then decide who to bring back and we've got plenty of space to do so.

Braylon, Rogers, Goldson, Brooks, Gore (most definitely), Boone, Reggie Smith, and last but not least everyone's favorite Alex Smith. :-)

We've got about 20 - 25 players with 1 year left on their contract.
