I can live with it. Best player available at position of need. Thoughts?

Like the pick.

Had him a few times in my mocks....versatile guy in coverage, and in Lou's defense that is a must. Seems to be a solid tackler. Would be the heir apparent to Bates, but I could see them moving him around in year 1 between CB and S, especially covering TE's, while keeping Bates back at FS - and then him taking over next year when they let Bates walk.

I think it was a good pick. Lou likes using 3 safeties in certain sets and we're going into a season where our top 2 safeties are in the final years of their deals. There are also some really good tight ends in our division, so flexibility in the secondary is key. Overall, it was a good pick for the present and the future.

How excited would Marvin Lewis be about making Hill a full-time gunner on the punt team and a rarely used player on D?

Love this pick. He's potentially an elite slot corner which is huge given the caliber of offenses they'll see in the postseason.

He ran a 4.37 - 40 I think. So he has speed. I am not sure he is the heir apparent to Bates, but maybe rather Bell. However, it all depends I guess if they truly see him as a safety in this league or a corner. I have no idea how good his coverage skills are. Wouldn't mind another Leon Hall type from Michigan, named Hall.

He's a unique prospect. He was a super productive college player and his athletic testing was off the charts. I was listening to some podcasts this morning where they were pointing out that some of his quickness measures and speed measures would be along the lines of a top-end corner. He is also smart (all-academic Big 10) and young. While I normally worry when the Bengals take a player without a specific position, I think this was the right move.

we got a top 15 pick with the 31st pick. that's what the luxury of taking best available gives you.

we got a player we can use this year.

I never saw him ranked that high from what I can remember, but I am certainly not opposed to seeing how he can fit within our defense. Keep in mind, we get an extra 2nd round pick this year dedicated to what looks like a very promising pass rusher in Ossai. If Gordon falls to #63, which he will not, I would double dip immediately. I was really hoping for a TE or Alec Pierce with our second round pick, but I am thinking the way the WR's left the board, he will be long gone to at the very least GB sometime by the midway point of the second round.

Boy I screwed this up in my head didn't I? I am still tired from last night. Could barely get my butt out of bed this morning.

CB depth

guess Jackson Carman is gonna have to improve over last year, also, none of the free agents we signed to the OL can get injured. :)

Well, it makes sense. They've drafted 2-3 OL last year, and 1 year isn't likely enough to determine just how good any of them can be with another year, or two, under their belts.

They got a few project guys to help add depth later, but no surprise they were not focused on an immediate OL position.

from what I understand, OG don't usually come into the league and immediately start pan-caking DLs

so hopefully he'll be fine. someone in that group will have to step up, if they are on a good line where everyone takes care of their own business I believe it should be a recipe for success.
