Howard's a good goalie. I think last year was his learning year. I have the Wings as my favorite to represent the West again to the SC Finals this year. Followed closely by the Kings and then followed distantly by the Canucks (as rosters currently are right now).

helps that the wings have figured out how to play d in front of him a bit better in the last 40 or so games.

The Howard has also improved mightily in the rebound-control department. That burned him quite a few times last year.

I can remember some very specific events where O'Halloran bent over the Wings and didn't even have the courtesy to offer a reach around... other games, I don't even notice he's out there (in a good way). I think he's a good ref that sometimes has some bonehead moments or games.

Hell, the way it's been looking maybe Campbell has him on a two-way radio, telling him which players are fakers and which teams need some help.

I'm not sure exactly what crawled up his ass last night, like you said in the other thread elite teams find ways to win and ways to keep leads, but if I was a Flames fan I would be scratching my head after that display.

lol...I just took a peek at KuklasKorner, some Wings fans are calling Iggy a coward and a meathead. I think you're right, the Flames do bring out the feisty side of the Wings (and Wings fans).

1. Iginla is a meathead. However, I would LOVE that meathead on my team.

2. Try calling Iginla a coward to his face. Unless your last name is Chara, it'll probably lead to your jaw getting wired shut.

3. Wings fans on KK are to regular Wings fans as Al-Quada is to Islam.


I was rewatching the game on DVR (it cut off halfway through the third though) and I noticed a few things;

Both the "Big Babe" and Hagman calls were weak. Redmond as usual made fun of the fact that the ref right next to Hagman didn't call the penalty, but the one at center ice (O'Halloren) did.

The missed too many men call was on Calgary, not Detroit (I thought it was the other way around last night)

Basically, it seems that every single time the Wings and Flames meet up, the Wings do a good job agitating and stay disciplined, while the Flames come unglued in the third and spend more time arguing with the refs and chasing around the Wings than playing hockey. It didn't matter if it was Keenan, Playfair, or Sutter, that's the MO. I know the Wings can be particularly infuriating with their style of play, and the Flames have a lot of that old school mentality in their lineup, so I think it just adds up to disaster for the Flames sometimes.

A little before the Abdullahacker "fight" with Iginla, Iginla had slapshot the puck down the ice after a play was over...unsportsmanlike, IMO, but did not get called. Would have given Detroit a 2-min, 2-man advantage (although...Detroit cannot ever seem to score on a 5 on 3), Bert got an extra 2 for unsportmanship yapping that gave Calgary a 4 min PP with a 2-goal lead.

Yeah, that flurry of penalties in the third was inconsistent at best. It obviously worked to our favor, but there was stuff going both ways that should have been called or shouldn't have been called.
