Torrents has a similar bat to Heineman and Bailey, though. All 3 are essentially offensive black holes.

But they are also all very good players. Catcher, more than any other position, is defense-first. But on a team that has no offense getting generated elsewhere, that isn’t a proper fit. It was right for the Giants to trade Bailey. Not only was he a bad fit for the current roster construction, but they got a HELL of a haul in return.
My comment was a roast on the Guardians. They had a couple of no hit, well regarded defense catchers so they ship out a decent pitching prospect and a high draft pick to get another one.

Remember about a month ago when everyone on this board was declaring him a full bust?

Yeah. That was awesome.
I've changed my thought on him: I believe he can be part of the solution and should not be dealt. Chapman, Adames, Devers, Ray, Ramos can all go though.

Also, wouldn't mind re-signing Arraez.
Depends on what else happens. I would want to sign him for longer than 3 years, and only if a role for Schmitt solidifies (giving him starters ABs, but at 4 positions works for me). I still want to deal him this year, though. Holding on to him this year make very little sense.

And if the Giants cannot move Adames and/or Chapman, they are liking to continue in starting roles. Re-signing Arraez makes things more difficult with getting Schmitt starter level playing time.

How much will Skubal cost, and will the Giants be willing to spend it?

This offseason seems like a strange time for ownership to suddenly change course in their spending.
I don’t really subscribe to the narrative that ownership has been super cheap, though. They took on Devers’ contract, for God’s sake. This past offseason was a very weak FA class. Skubal is arguably the #1 SP in the game today.
