Nowadays if Djokovic loses it’s not an upset anymore. It’s always filled with excuses. He is old but can’t accept it. I hope he retires soon. Tennis will continue with younger players that need to play in his spot.

Alcaraz does not look 100%. I would say maybe 70%. The real question is whether that will be enough to beat Zverev and Co in a Sinner depleted field.

he made it to the Australian finals and lost and lost in the semis at Wimbledon.

he 100% isn't the player he once was, but he can still hang. This and the French were for sure upsets. It would have taken a miracle to win at the Aussie or Wimbledon, esp after his 5 set match with FAA and going up against Sinner in the semis.

but to say he is washed is terrible.

Ben impressed me and so did Tiafoe! Both are in great hard court form. I think Shelton can pose problems for Alcaraz if Alcaraz is not serving well. Those break of serves are one point here and there. Set can be over pretty quick if Alcaraz is not careful as Ben is serving really well. He needs to engage Ben in long rallies to diffuse the sever confidence. Alcaraz’s side is loaded while the other half has no bodies left in the draw.

lots of upsets this year on both the men's and women's side. Kind of wild.

I am kind of pulling for Zheng on the women's side. Would love to see a qualifier deny Sabalenka a slam in 2026...

the 4 matches played yesterday might have been some of the best tennis I have seen in a long time.. All 4 went the distance, 3 of 4 went to a match tiebreak...

I didn't stay up for the Alcaraz/Shelton match so I will likely put it on in my office today to have going in the background.

I stayed up for the first set which was thrilling. I thought Alcaraz had it wrapped up but that overhead smash volley that he sailed long was weird and started an avalanche of flat play and he went down 6-1 from there in the second set. Hope he wasn’t paid to play bad all of a sudden. His level dropped drastically without explanation and he went down two sets to one. Went to bed soon after. The final score line when I woke up surprised me again. Close five setter with Alcaraz ring up in the final set tiebreak.

Ben is still not convincing enough of a stable player yet to me. Let’s see what he does against Frances.

I read my app wrong, men's semi finals are tomorrow, not today.

I plan on having a Honey Deuce or 2 tonight to watch the women tonight. Solid match ups today. Top 4 seeds going at it...best you can ask for

Among the only players that are left I like Khachanov. Less drama there. Everyone else is high voltage drama. Unfortunately that is what the US open crowd is drawn toward. Quality of play can suffer but high octane drama should be there with lot of fist pumping and yelling or grunting. It’s like watching angry clowns.
