Curious to see how Rory plays. His last trip here in 2018 was a disaster. He had 3 Double bogeys in his first round ..shoots an 80 and ends up missing the cut.
The timing is not great for Scottie. This is the most out of sync he has been in 3 years and now he has (what should be) the toughest test of the year.

Brooks won here is 2018 with a +1 ..Rose tied for 10th with +7 ..7 over par and you make the top 10. That is a tough course.

I expect it to be the longest rough you will see for the year ..but not ridiculous.
I feel like the USGA has toned down the rough in first cut a bit. You should be able to advance the ball to some degree.

Tee times start at 6:35 am to 2:42 pm ...8 hour span of Tee off's? Seems kind of longer that usual.

Also strange, Rory & Scottie tee off 20 mins apart. They never do that. For viewership reasons they give one a morning tee time and the other
late afternoon.

In other words the Par 3's are straight up meat grinders.

They're not cutting the greens as close to account for all of the wind.. that course would be impossible with heavy winds and fast greens. But the poa annua gets really flaky when it's a bit longer. I'm not used to seeing putted balls wiggle & bounce around like they have been. Hoping Clark comes back to the field just for the competition factor, though he does come off as kind of a dick also.

Very True ...on this course you can make a double in a heartbeat.

That said, I don't see Clark falling apart. He seems to handle these moments pretty well.
And I don't see Scheffler catching him with the way he has been putting ..these greens seem alien to him.
Driver seems to be a bit wayward as well ...that's not good on this course.


More likely is one of the 1 under or E guys go on a run. Fitzpatrick, Schauffele maybe?

It will be fun to watch. Basically what you said. But, on this course, a 6-shot lead can disappear pretty quickly. If Clark makes no mistakes, he’s got this in the bag.

On a side note, pleasantly surprised at what the amateurs have done. To compete at this level at that age is very impressive.
