It sucks that the CFB playoff first round goes up against the NFL - because I love both, I’ll switch back and forth between the games, but NFL is my #1 sport so I get why it has better ratings, but the CFB playoff games should have their own time spot without competition from the NFL.

Let's assume 3pm again for today's CFB TV schedule release of bowl games. Curious if the Holiday and Poinsettia bowls will be included. Holiday does not have a TV partner as FOX apparently declined to bid.

It’s a shame that the bowls no longer mean much because they are unique and I always liked them, it was a cool way to end the season with matchups you don’t often see.

Technically the Poinsettia also doesn't have a TV partner, though rumor has it that CW will end up with both.

The Holiday Bowl was always one of my favorites, especially early on when the games were shoot-outs involving the WAC/BYU. For many years, the 1980 game was routinely voted one of the best bowl games in history. BYU came back from 20 down in the last four minutes to beat SMU led by the Dickerson/James "Pony Express."

Iowa won the 86 Holiday Bowl 39-38 and the 87 Holiday Bowl 20-19. In 91 Iowa tied BYU and Heisman winner Ty Detmer 13-13.

That stadium was rocking in Hawaii last year when Hawaii was actually playing there.

If bowl games continue in any shape where selections happen, they need to regionalize them. I know it’s going to suck for students not to travel very far, but some of the time, it makes zero sense to move teams away. Maryland or Navy should be one of the primary teams considered for the Military Bowl, along with Temple, UVA and VT.

Seeing some of these stadiums nearly empty because no one cares to travel besides family definitely sucks as a fan of the game.

So Iowa went to 3 Holidays Bowls from 87-91, didnt lose any of them and scored 2 more total points than their opponents.

I enjoy the Hawaii Bowl. It's became one of my new traditions for that evening. Used to be Christmas with my mother's side but my great grandma & grandma have passed and only have stepkids that night every other year so that tradition has ended. The game is a good way to relax & enjoy football.

Back in the mid 80s when they still played the game as the Aloha Bowl, they invited UCLA and Florida. Former UF SID Norris Anderson, by then a sports columnist in Miami and for "Football News," wrote it made no sense to invite two schools from beach states. Hawaii's main tourist attraction, he said, would not be a draw for UF or UCLA fans. He called it, the stadium was at best sparsely populated, lots of them were US servicemen stationed there who got free tickets.
