Never heard of this website before but it came up when I searched for an answer to your question. If it is correct, the Giants are 21st among MLB clubs in games where they have scored 7 or more runs.

There is room on the 40 man roster but will the Giants start his clock for just a couple of days before Chapman is activated?

Of course, Chapman was supposed to be activated as long ago as 4 days ago but is now looking like it will be another 4 or 5 days. Who knows if he will be ready by then. The FO probably knows the best on that.

And, also, the trade deadline is rapidly approaching. There may soon be some roster spots open even with Chapman activated.

Or do they try to squeeze out as much production as possible, knowing that there will possibly be bad blood between him and the org?

I would guess it would be a calculated risk. The Rule V was skipped a few years back, wasn’t it (‘21?)? I think the teams skipped protecting players that year.

For the record, I want the Rule V to be totally overhauled in the next CBA. I want players taken to be simply given to the drafting team, no strings attached. As long as the new team adds the player to the 40, the player is theirs, period.

Bad look for both. Bad look for Bader because he FAFO’d. Bad look for the Giants because they are “forced” to play hard ball with one of their players.

I would guess that they would be looking to just nullify the contract and walk away from him. No release (they would still be on the hook for his contract $$), but a full annulment instead.

I think Susac and Cavanaugh are a good young R/L catching combo. They can both hit a little and catch well. Even a modicum of hitting and decent defense with go a long way with that position. I hear some rumblings on KNBR about Rutschman. Don't want him. Don't need him. Too expensive. We have larger more pressing needs.
