They both got drafted by the Cincinnati Bengals.

They also both passed away.

New year, same feeling leaving this draft for the Dawgs. Love my QB's, love my RB's, WR are a different story.

QB room is solid IMO. Got some veteran presence in Sayin and Stockton. Got some guys with some big upside in Kienholz, Mendoza and Marshall. And then the pick that I caught the most flack about, Deuce Knight. Look, last year I missed out on probably a half dozen guys that I really wanted because I thought I could wait one more round to get them. This year I told myself that will not happen again!!! So did I reach, absolutely. But I was going to make sure this guy was a Dawg, I think he has huge upside. Deuce reminds me of Cam Newton so much. I think the guy is gonna be a star. Maybe I am gonna have to wait a year, but I am ok with that.

Running backs - Happy with this group too. Tried to focus on offenses that are run heavy, Kansas St, Texas Tech, UW, Miss St. My whole time here I haven't been scared of having two RB's from the same team (Kaytron and Singleton @ Penn St for example) so I took Dickey and J'Koby. I think they both will get numbers. I wanted a second chance at Pendergrass. The guy I really like here that might be a sleeper is Landon Chambers @ UCF. I have been a sucker for D2 transfers before but I have had some success with them, think Skattabo coming from Sac St. The group is deep, the challenge will be picking the right matchup for the right guy as most of my RB's are equal.

Wide Receiver - I seem to always struggle here. My keeper was Wingo and I feel like he is just an OK guy. Sategna, Clement and Vandrevius I had last year so was familiar with them. The others are kinda fliers that I hope will work out, good players in (I hope) good situations. LSU is super deep so I don't know if Harris will get the targets or not. SIngleton is solid receiver but not sure what Florida's offense will do. I like Hooks late with Dante Moore throwing the ball. Fenner is a D2 transfer that I am high on and Naeem is a stud but not sure what Clemson is doing right now. So lots of questions at this spot.

Optimistic about this year's rendition of the Dawgfathers. A little nervous to start, but confident that we will compete. I don't think it's my strongest team but a lot can happen in college football. These guys are all Dawgs and are gonna bring it week in and week out!

Part 1:


Team by Team

Asian Alley Cats: The champs are here…again. God its’ annoying how good King Saban is at this thing. KS went a little risky at QB this year. Avery Johnson and Lagway absolutely could break out, but nothing is certain. Julian Lewis is the least DC QB pick in a long time. Handcuffing Weigman was a great move. Covers him for multiple years in all likelihood. This RB room man, he’s got the two studs carrying the way with some interesting depth. I love Kromah, and he could easiloy be the guy there, Kobie Martin will have some good games, you just need to know when to use him. Dramecko Green is a pet favorite of mine who could ruin my season. The WR room is fascinating to me. A lot of fun guys but not, on paper, up to DC standards. Becker is going to be a double digit TD guy, Carlos Hernandez and Matthews should both be good but right now have QB questions. My favorite picks at Watkins and Miller. Both should return value beyond their picks. But I’ve learned not to question the champ.Elite kicker. If he gets a breakout from one of his upperclassmen QBs this is gonna be another tough team to beat.

Winsleys Warriors: Love the QB room, very much not a normal Guru QB room which would normally have the Iowa QB and other pocket passers on terrible offenses. He’s got some really interesting RBs who could far outperform their draft spots in Phillips and Peoples. The splits on Miller, Knight and Marshall will determine how good this room is. This WR room has some fun spots. Roebuck in the slot should catch a lot of passes, but the question is how many TDs, the last really good slot guy there was McMillan. Yamir Knight and Evan Stewart were both really good value IMO. Stewart could finally breakout the way he was expected too. Guru should be forfeiting a future pick for taking felon Victor Snow. Overall he’s got the good 2QB base and the RB room splits will determine his upside.

Skeet Shooters: Considering he picked at the turn it’s hard to argue with that QB room, although I would’ve taken the admitted redshirt defrauder Chambliss at 1-1 to give him the best QB room in the league (which is usually what JB does). But Sellers has massive talent and South Carolina seems to have a good offense every other year, and this is their turn to be good…Strong RB room. Dickens is one of my favorite picks after the two studs. He jumped at the good news on Nelson and Dilin Jones seems like he might tke the job in LSU. Good shot on Sutton Smith that late as he could be bye week startable. The WR room…alot of it will depend on how healthy hines is. But the middle of his WR room is nice. Shipp, Hendricks, richardson is good work. Hudson and Joseph Williams good wings late. But Hines is the one with win the league upside. Need him to have a big year. A Sellers breakout makes this team dangerous, might need to hit waivers for more WR depth.

Waxy Frogs: QB room isn’t bad. But has no clear superstar. But has plenty of experience, and in CFB now that age matters alot. Bailey is a personal favorite of mine, losing Anderson hurts but I do like the transfer adds, minus the felony by Guru’s guy. I probably would’ve handcuffed Philo. Easily the most improved drafter in recent years. He stopped loading up on players in terrible offenses. I love this RB room. Even if West doesn’t win the job (although he might have a good sept…) those are dudes who are gonna get the ball. Hawkins and Ford were strong value in double digit rounds (we know Franklin RBs can start). The WR room needs the transfers to stick. Quite a few shorts here, Young and Scudero, plus Hayes. McCray might end up being the best pick in the later rounds. Waxy is easily the most improved drafter the last few years, no longer taking all the players from terrible offenses. QB room needs to make the leap for him.

Orgy of Evil: My twin one again is just better than me at life. Rock solid QB room, if Byrd doesn’t steal too many GL TDs then Dampier is a steal there. Hammond and Becht round out a good QB room. RB room needs some work. Overton will probably be fantasy relevant as we’ve seen historically with Franklin. I just don’t think Hughes is the layup everyone thinks he is after flopping at Oregon, and Frazier and Hiter will split carries enough they might be maddening starts. Loading up on the Kansas RB room is a choice you can make, but one of them should break out. There is a lot of pressure on Fletcher here. Good WR room. A lot of guys who will play and catch passes. Strong should see a bump. As I said previously reed harris could just be the guy and that would be huge for him. Wouldn’t shock me at all if OB is starting 4 WRs and 2 RBs most of the year. Might need to find some WW help at RB but this team has a lot of strong pieces.

Drunk Jocks: Strong QB room. Two studs right off the bat, and high upside with Washington, who should have the keys to do whatever he wants at Maryland. Grabbing the WVU QB room didn’t’ work for me last year, but I still think it’s smart. This is an interesting RB room. Davison should be the guy. Brown & Smothers share a loaded offense. Jordan shares with King mIller and that split is very up in the air. Valentine & Sama are the kind of swings you need to win but far from proven. But RS did take guys in the right spots. Reescano was one of my favorite picks as well although fraudulently lying to judges might throw a wrench in that pick. Snow is a good WR drafter and you see it with his room. Coleman, Duff, Staley, Harris is a really good WR room. Another team who could easily be starting 4 WRs a lot this year. Took some solid swings late but nothing to count on right now. But the top 4 are so good it doesn’t matter. Much like Orgy, might need some waiver help at Rb, but the 2 QBs and WR room are a good start.

part 2:

Blind Squirrels: Jennings & Carr should start regularly. The rest of his room are good backups/bye fillers. Angelli coming back off a torn achilles is probably the biggest ? in the room. Man the top of this RB room could be insanely good, but health questions for both Taylor and Hardy. Getting Roberts covers him on Hardy. Hansen should be the guy at Penn St. I’m concerned on Moulton as he hasn’t run with the job, Phillips taking that wouldn’t be shocking. Not sure on the rest of this RB room. Probably should’ve handcuffed Taylor. Right now looks tough on bye weeks for him. A really good starting trio and some fun shots. I like Sowell more than most of the other picks. Taking an iowa WR should be a fireable offense….

Dawgs: The QB room is more interesting at the back end with the insanely high ceiling (but very low floors) Mendoza and Kienholz have. Good offense for Kienholz, and he was a very highly touted recruit. Could be a steal there. It’s hard to not like a QB who averaged double digits yards per carry. My concern with him is that we don’t know that Ga Tech will be running a similar offense this year. If they are…this could be a huge hit for how late he went. Taking single digit round keepers in the money laundering transfer portal era should be punishable by public stoning. A lto more uncertainty here than Id like, but there is talent. Jackson and Bothwell should be fine. Dickey is sharing two other good backs. Could be very frustrating. Limar might not even win the job. Some good backup swings late but this room will rely heavily on fluff and and jackson to be great. Strong WR room here. Guys who will get plenty of touches. This is another team who might be a 4 WR team. Don’t need to say much about the top guys. But Harris Fenner and Singleton all could be hits (but not guaranteed). Singleton knowing the offense and Philo is pretty big for them. Hooks and Clement are good late round swings.

California Raisins: Top level QB starters with Williams and Chambliss. The Rest of the QB room is less certain, but Ficklin is a great swing late, any Dampier injury and Navin has the best QB room in the league. But an injury to one of his top 2 guys might be a disaster. Might need waiver depth here. Bo Jackson being banged up and behind West is probably nothing and just a slower recovery, might make a hot start for the Raisins more difficult. But Turner, Hill and Watson is still a good group in the middle. Love getting Joyner that late as he could easily lead that Tech room by the end of the year. No idea if Bama will be able to run the ball this year but navin gave it a shot as well. This room is leaning heavily on dwyer being McAllister and i’m not sure that happens. He’s good but TCU was better when they weren’t forcing the ball to McAllister. Plus they should run the ball more with the downgrade at QB. Barkrate in round 5 was great value. The rest of room has a lot of questions. Best picks IMO were Wilson (who was good the last time he was healthy and now in a good offense) and Walker (who was a catch machine at Oregon St and they need another target to get the ball to). This team needs its QBs to stay healthy. They’re going to need to drag this team.

EZ Divas: Tony should get penalized for making me turn off dark mode on SportsHoopla just to read his roster. The QB room isn’t overly proven, but Heintschel should be a decent QB2/3 and the alabama QB should be startable. But I’m not sure its enough. Love the RB room. Lots of talent meets opportunity here. When Kyson Brown is your RB4, you’re in a good spot. Peyton Lewis could finally breakout as well. The WR room is good man. Smith and Evans is a 2k combo almost for sure barring injuries. Moore had a good year last year and while the QB is a ?, he’s his WR3. Rashid williams is one of my favorite picks in the draft with huge upside. Horton and Eakin are good gambles IMO. Eakin has been productive and is the upperclassmen who stayed in that offense, and his patience could be rewarded. Tony’s team looks pretty good but might need a QB infusion during the inevitable inseason shakeups.

Smurf Turfers: High upside QB room with Taylor and Brown. Nico’s talent and hype could finally match his stats with such a high level coach. Joseph is interesting but Gio Lopez never was that great even at the lower levels. But dumping it down to Carlos Hernandez 90 times this year might help with that. Hard to argue with this RB duo. Parker is a frustrating RB experience (first hand knowledge) but maybe the issue was Whit and not the OC. Would be big for him if it was the former. Wisner is a fun gamble late and might be needed as depth here. Some really good picks in this WR room with RCW the anchor. Wilde should have another good year. Harbor would be the logical beneficiary of a Sellers breakout and Barnes should not be slept on. Even Rowe could have a breakout. Johnson steps into the Brennen role from last year and Mosley was so good at stanford he can’t be ignored even in a loaded texas room. I’m proud of him for not taking 3 kickers.

Heisman Hopefuls: As usual, their biggest weakness is the team owner. He kinda sucks. QB room is mobile heavy, not overly proven at the higher levels. Need the top 2 to really drag this team forward. I like the Rbs but the teams they’re on don’t have a great history, but their RB rooms are so empty, so talent + opportunity and all that…top of my WR room is weaker than most but I do love brooks as a breakout. Hilton should be the top guy at ole miss and we’ll see. The rest of the room is guys with opportunity. Plenty of guys who had good years at other schools or lower levels before coming up. Not sure I have the top end talent at RB to win. Boring last round pick. A saferish draft overall than usual for me.

This is not my favorite draft but I do like the potential it has so we will see.
