Another year, another draft down.

I love the smell of Phil Steele magazine in the morning...

This was the hardest one ever, not many picks I can just rip on (we’ll get to the few of you later), I miss Payton and mid 2000s Special Ed....and absolutely Poni. Bring him back so I have someone i can make fun of all year.

This was an interesting year as we saw backup QBs go earlier than usual and much less handcuffing that I can recall in any draft.

The portal has also (mercifully) stopped most of the early keeper picks

Also I’m glad no one drafted 3 kickers this year. We only needed that to happen once in S12 history.

Finally, Watching so many of my picks last year go late was also horrendous to watch. Just one body blow after another…

:(

Anyway, enough about how awful my team last year was...

Lets get to the analysis:

Analysis of my team:

I had decent but not great keepers leading off. My QBs have more established talent than usual, but also a few transfer risks. But I think with the guys offenses and legs I should be able to field 2 good starters each week.

I went hard at RB early with guys who don’t have much other talent in the RB room. I then took two high upside swings on James and Mack. Notre Dame has been having 2 fantasy relevant backs for a while now and Mack is in a good spot to move up the depth chart quickly.

My WRs are nothing like usual. Lots of guys who have…actually caught passes before. And then a few guys in really good spots to get a lot of targets. Brooks being my WR1 is probably questionable but I do really like him as a breakout guy. Most of my guys are in good spots to contribute and see fantasy relevant targets but it might lack the upside to be a winner.

Favorite pick of my team: Terrell Anderson. Lots to like about the senior QB, the system, and the fact that the other WR vying for WR1 has been injured and out of practice for a while, including the start of camp. This offense is one that could take a nice leap forward.

Least Favorite pick of mine: Jeremy Payne, obviously I wanted Scott. And seeing Dickens go a few rounds later means I probably should’ve gone WR here and grabbed hernandez for myself. Plus I've gotten smoked by the TCU RB spot before (I hate you Cam Cook....)

Favorite picks Rounds 1-10:

Hardly a guarantee of success since last year... Josh Hoover (hit…ish), Kamari Moulton (no), Ian Strong (not a bust), Hollywood Smothers (I’m a god), Kyron Drones (cursed him like I do most things in life), Kaden Feagin (why do you guys allow me to write this?), Turbo Richard (see Hollywood Smothers), Syracuse WRs (see Kaden Feagin)

Cooper Barkate, California Raisins: He also had a big year in a power conference and comes over to a better team, and gets to face the duke defense this year instead of Miami’s. With his QB form last year who made him the surprise favorite target.

Duke Scott, End Zone Divas: I would’ve taken him next if Tony didn’t. This was a good player in a good spot who showed they can get a good RB in this system.

Carlos Hernandez, Asian Alley Cats: Why do we keep letting King Saban get steals like this? Absolutely brutal watching this guy now have a QB who isn’t Robby freaking Ashford throwing to him. Fantastic get in round 6.

Rashid Williams, End Zone Divas: Starting to feel personal tony…but I think the upside on this pick is pretty high.

Evan Dickens, Skeet Shooters: This was a good value grab. Not a 100% guarantee on this one but the speed is real, and Boston college’s schedule is downright embarrassing. Lotta softy defenses to run right through.

Reed Harris, Orgy of Evil: There is no reason why he can’t be the guy in Tempe this year and it’s a few rounds later than Miller. Good use of a pick here, plus his size means he should get enough TDs to justify the pick.

Top 10 rounds pick I did not like:
This is not a death sentence at all Carnell Tate (he was great…i suck), Dakorien Moore (crushed it), Malachi Fields (hit), Trebor Pena (hit), Mike Matthews (i really suck at this), Germie Bernard (miss even with 2 playoff games inflating his stats), DeAndre Moore (hit), non antonio williams clemson WRs (miss, TJ Moore was lit af as the kids say these days)

Wayshawn Parker, Smurf Turfers: This is probably just PTSD because Parker was jekyl and hyde last year and we’ve seen how weird the Utah RB spot has been, plus Dampier and possibly Byrd will steal red zone TDs. It’s a big ask for the RB right there.

Wayne Knight, Winsley’s Warriors: A lot of optimism at LA Community College, but this coach usually spreads his carries out. Plus Nico is there and needs to show out. We’ll see how this plays out, just seemed early for a seemingly rotation RB.

Bryce Underwood, California Raisins: This is such a Navin pick. The 5 star bonus baby. Reports are he has looked pretty bad and is behind the curve. He’s gonna need to run a lot to justify this pick, but Michigan already has 2 good RBs.

Dallas Wilson, Winsley’s Warriors: Considering the upside of the WRs who went after him, I think this pick could’ve waited. Knight, who he took a few picks later was a better pick. Plus, teams with QB situations, changing QBs could change the performance. I would want more in round 6.

Deuce Knight, Dawgfathers: I’m going to defer to the Husky fan at RB. But taking a backup QB in round 8 deserves my righteous condemnation. Grant this guy 100% should be the starting QB for ole miss this year, but sadly we live a broken corrupt, dishonest world and a guy who committed red shirt fraud is the QB. With the portal he may not even be at ole miss next year.

After Round 10 picks I liked:

Marcellous Hawkins, Waxy Frogs: This guy was good last year, and now he gets to be the lead back from the guy in a Penn St offense? Against easier defenses? Sign me up. If i didn’t need a QB so badly at that point Hawkins would be on my roster.

Lincoln Kienholz, Dawgfathers: Just when I thought you couldn't get any dumber you do something like this…and TOTALLY redeem yourself. Brohm offense with his talent...That could be a lot of fun. I really like this pick. It’s MASSIVE risk, but the upside is one of the highest in this portion of the draft.

Winston Watkins, Asian Alley Cats: Cayden Lee got plenty of touches at Ole Miss last year in this role and Watkins faces a lot less competition than the outside guys.

Micah Ford, Waxy Frogs: This is a guy who should at least be a spot starter and Stanford should be relying on him a lot more this year, especially with Tabb gone.

Peyton Lewis, End Zone Divas: He didn’t embarrass himself at tennessee and now moves to an easier conference and should be the lead back.

Beau Pribula, Winsley’s Warriors: I like this pick. A guy who can be a starter for you solely due to his legs. Any improvement in passing at all and he’s a huge steal.

Joseph Williams, Skeet Shooters: I would rather have him in round 17 than Scudero 11 rounds earlier. The value and upside between the two is not this great IMO.

DJ Miller, Asian Alley Cats: Again, HOW DID WE LET THIS HAPPEN. I looked at that kentucky WR room and it’s pretty embarrassing. And considering the other WR worth anything is made of glass, Miller should see a ton of targets. It’s crazy on that Kentucky team…even the RBs aren’t durable. This team has 3 of it’s key pieces with zero track record in durability of any kind.

Deserves its own category:

Victory Snow, Winsley’s Warriors: How are you not in jail?

I will do the team breakdowns in a little bit. But I wanted to get this out there first.

I will add more of my own thought later and I hope others do too.

Thanks for doing this. It was awesome to read.

Couple comments I want to add while I am here.

I want to hit on the Kamari Moulton- Don't be so hard on yourself. He was decent last year. He ran the ball well he just didn't score much.

The non Clemson WR's. Wesco looked solid early on but then got hurt and that probably helped TJ Moore's numbers last year and if both are healthy they probably share more of the stats and even out a bit. I think in this case if both had stayed healthy, then perhaps Moore's numbers would have been more equal to what your point of this prediction was last year. But yeah, I guess you were still wrong. ;) Just wanted to throw you a bone on that one.

You’re not wrong

One of them had to get hurt to step up like that

I think Bryce Underwood might legit get benched at some point this year if he doesn't make some serious progress. I know "its just a spring game" but his footwork looked like the same mess it was all of last season in their spring game. The fact that he basically was the same QB at the end of last year then he was when the year started is a huge red flag to begin with, guy didn't improve at all throughout the season.

Whittingham isn't going to stick with him just because of his giant NIL deal.

Let’s hope he is the Lagway of last year (sorry Navin go Iowa!) and Lagway is the Weigman of last year. ;)

Few Draft notes.

- First time a Clemson QB was never drafted.
- First time a Florida State QB was never drafted.
-- Let this sink in. It doesn't bode well for those of us who took a Clemson or Florida State WR-- ;)

Bryson Washington, RB- Undrafted.
2024 - This guy went from Soul 12 championship hero to 2025 the #2 overall pick last year to 2026- Undrafted.
Not sure we have seen a fall like that in Soul 12 history.

I believe (I will double check tonight) that every eligible team had a player drafted from them. Purdue just barely getting a pick in with Fame Ijeboi late.

Every team indeed had a player drafted. Purdue and Arkansas were the last to get on the board I believe.

Thank you for confirming.

Braylen Russell and Fame.

Arkansas ends up having 4 go (Braylen Russell, Sutton Smith, Chris Marshall, KJ Jackson (last pick) but all pretty late. They were in trouble for awhile there.

We had a swarm of Arkansas players there at the end.

Clemson QB situation just stinks.

One of the competitors for the job is guy who's entering his 4th year and just now looking to get serious playing time, that is NOT a good thing in the current college football climate. Other guy battling for the job is a true freshman who was a 3* and the #34 QB in the class.

FSU QB situation is pretty similar, crappy. You got a well below average veteran and 2 3* type freshmen.

Q did a wonderful job on this. I am going to do a quick version of mine.

Before I do this I want everyone to know I think everyone did an excellent job. Everyone put themselves into position to be successful if they can stay healthy. Some things will go wrong for all of us and something will go wrong for all of us. Here are my answers to Q's rundown.

Favorite picks Rounds 1-10: (I usually skip past the first 3 rounds on this question and go from there)

Mario Craver (Orgy of Evil)- I didn't believe in him last year. Thought he was crazy for transferring to Texas A&M with Kevin Coleman gone at Miss State it seemed like he should have stayed. He produced he and Concepcion were both solid WR's with Marcel Reed who I was a bit iffy on as a passer. Now KC is gone Craver could put up even bigger numbers. Although Texas A&M does have other WR's ready to contribute he will be Reese's go to and he had no problem finding him the football last year.

Duke Scott (End Zone Divas)- NC State seems mighty high on Duke. I was sorta hoping he would fall a bit and I could sneak him into my draft. I think he has a solid season.

Terrell Anderson (Heisman Hopefuls) This was one of my favorite picks on the draft. Watched him a lot at NC State last year and while he was very inconsistent number wise it felt like NC State didn't use him the best. They held him back a bit too much for my taste. Now in a perfect system to inflate his numbers and he should be one of their top targets with upside to put up some really good numbers in year two. This is a guy I had my eye on last year for the following year but you can't draft everyone.

Will Hammond (Orgy of Evil)- The knee is obviously a concern but he seems ready to go. Not that Morton or Shough were bad for Texas Tech but I like Will Hammond better. Was going to take him where I took Lagway but OB just had to swoop in. I think he has potential to put up very good numbers. The Tech QB hasn't been insane lately but I think he has a chance to be very good. I was surprised he wasn't valued higher in the fantasy world this year. I get it, the knee but yet I don't :).

Turbo Richard (Smurf Turfers) I think Indiana RB's are under valued in the Cignetti system. He likes to use multiple backs and it's hard to know when to start them but generally you get pretty good games out of them... The downside is you can miss out on their big game and get stuck with their poor game. But generally they have a decent amount of big games in them. Not guys you want as your #1 or 2 RB's but guys you can always fall back on and fill in when needed. I think Richard and Martin both have good years... and we may see more of 2 Indiana backs this year instead of 3 or 4 with Beebe coming off the knee injury. I was close to taking Turbo the pick before he was drafted and was possibly set to take him the next pick I had. Problem with me is I really loved Khobie Martin so I just sorta wanted one of them which is why I didn't take Turbo a little earlier. There was possibly higher upside guys on the board but he was good value remaining there.

Top 10 rounds pick I did not like: --

Nobody get bent out of shape over this. It is no fun if you don't come up with any but like Q said you all make this part tougher then it use to be.

Jeremy Payne (Heisman Hopefuls)- Already told Q my opinion on here. I do like the player. I took him last year but we both have TCU PTSD RB situation. TCU RB situation hasn't been what it once was the past few years. I drafted Payton and Nate Palmer last year thinking one of them would be the starter. Neither was. I picked up Kavorian Barnes and that wasn't any better. The last two years it seems like TCU has had a handful of RB's get 10-6 carries throughout the game and often switching who gets more carries and who comes and goes out of the rotation. I think Payne is talented enough to see more carries then what we saw last year and there isn't a lot behind him so maybe this turns out better but I would have waited a couple rounds. I think some talent was passed up here when he probably could have still gotten Payne a little bit later.

Danny Scudero (Waxy Frogs)- I think Colorado spreads the wealth out a lot this year and probably has to. It's hard to say what kind of numbers th WR's put up but I will be surprised if DeAndre Moore and Hykeem Williams who were not drafted don't get as much action as the two that were drafted. I would have waited on Scudero. He wasn't a horrible pick but it was too early for a Colorado WR this year, IMO.

Waymond Jordan (Drunk Jocks)- I wasn't a big fan of this pick earlier in the draft last year... He is just now getting healthy from an injury riddled season and King Miller emerged last year. Neither probably takes control of the position this year but both probably do well at different times. I think a little too early on him is all.

Bryce Underwood (Navin)- I get it, the talent is tempting but unless he runs a lot more I don't think Nav will get enough usage out of him with his current QB situation. Navin has pretty good QB's so it won't hurt him as he won't have to depend on him barring injury but he could have gotten better value there with plenty of other QB's who were drafted later on the same fantasy level as Underwood.

Deuce Knight (DHoey)- Look this is going to be fantastic player for Dhoey this year and if Chambliess does go down this year.. But I have to base it off next year. So while I know why he took him here and he loves him. I would have tried to wait just a bit more before I took him. At the same time my theory is if you love someone you take them. DHoey loves Knight and at the end of the day this pick could end up being a major piece of his team this year and almost surely will next year. I can only base the pick off this year though. So I get the pick but I have to include it here and I think DHoey is perfectly find with this.

Koby Howard (Drunk Jocks)- I really do like Koby Howard but I think value wise he went way before I would have taken him. He was a guy on my board for several rounds later. It could turn out really good though. But again probably could have waited and still gotten him. It's all about how you manage your draft. I understand wanting a guy really bad and taking him a little bit early to not lose out on him but this one I think was one he could have waited at least a good handful of rounds on and still have drafted.

Picks that stand out after Round 10

Isaiah Horton, WR, Texas A&M- End Zone Divas- I am high on Horton. Took him last year and started him a few times. Didn't get a lot of use out of him but I think at Texas A&M with a few WR's leaving there it will really open it up to him putting up solid numbers with Craver on the other side.

Lincoln Kienholz, QB, Louisville- Dawgfathers There were some QB's taken ahead of him that I would have never sniffed before Kienholz. Surprisingly the QB under Brohm at Louisville hasn't exactly put up great consistent fantasy numbers between Plummer, Shough and Miller Moss so I get why he wasn't higher up on some lists and the weapons at WR for Louisville on paper are less then desirable this year but they will run the ball well, opening up the passing game with enough options for him to throw to. I would have pegged him to go just a bit higher then he went. I thought about taking him over Lagway and maybe I should have?

Micah Ford- RB- Stanford- Waxy Frogs- IMO, Waxy had one of the best second halfs of the draft. Often taking guys I passed on and considered and shortly took them or he would just make picks like this that had value in which I thought I should maybe have considered them more. Ford won't go off but he is a nice fall back option and pretty sure bet starter with good value where he went.

Nyziah Hunter, WR, Nebraska- Orgy of Evil- I had no clue where I would have taken Hunter but he was a guy I liked at Cal the year before last. Then he transferred it looked too crowded at Nebraska to draft him. I would have taken him at some point in this draft but just not sure where. I thought I could wait a bit but I love this pick and I think he will break out this year as he has shown breakout ability in each of the past two seasons and now he is with the same team he was last year so the stability will be there a bit more for him. Gilmer and Barney are also there but I think Hunter puts up solid numbers with an experience QB and a second year under his belt at Nebraska.

This is getting too long. Q gives a much better version of this because he doesn't list as many which sort of gets to the point. Good work @The Q

Others-

Johntay Cook, WR, Mississippi- California Raisins
Donovan Olugbode, WR, Missouri- Orgy of Evil
Chris Johnson, RB, Clemson- Blind Squirrels
Mekhi Nelson, RB, Nebraska- Skeet Shooters
Cole Weaver, WR, Syracuse- Heisman Hopefuls
Marcellous Hawkins, RB Virginia Tech- Waxy Frogs

Picks I wasn't real fond of after Round 10

All of the kickers.

I agree with your concern about Scudero. I went with him based on potential upside, I could still see him getting a higher volume than the rest but it's just one of those things you can't really know for sure until Colorado actually plays. I think his floor is decently high enough to still be a capable WR3 though.

and if you liked him well enough you had to take him around that area because someone else probably felt the same way.

I'm just eager for the Julian Lewis/Scudero chestbumps.. Don't let us down fellas.
