Offseason thread
  • MLF will be back signing new contract, unsure on number of years.. but assume he has 2-3 years and Packers could fire him if not meeting expectations.
  • Gutey and Russ Ball still to be extended.
  • Policy keeping the same structure that Murphy had for reporting.
  • Packers have new DC now it appears... Johnathan Gannon - former Cards coach and Eagles DC prior.
Current cap space: -$10M to -$15M depending on site.

Lots of free agents... OL should have big makeover.
  • Would like Q. Walker back - really like him the pairing of him with Cooper.
  • Enagbare - if can come back on somewhat team friendly deal... prefer keep him and release Gary which I am expecting.
Others under contract for 2026 that could be released:
  • R. Gary - $28M hit / $17M dead - expect him gone, his play snaps really decreased as season went on. Did nothing 2nd half of season.
  • Banks - $24M / $20M - disappointing free agent signing.. but I think they will bring him back 1 more year to avoid total makeover. Z. Tom also have surgery potentially putting more flux on OL for next year.
  • Jenkins - $24M / $5M - expect him to be gone... age and injuries, moved him to center which is not his best position IMO.
  • Hobbs - $13M / $12M - other failed 2025 big free agent signing. Not much cap savings if release and had injuries in 2025. Expect Packers give him 1 more year.
  • Nixon - $7M / $2M - tired of his antics... if Packers are as well, could be gone. But unsure Packers really hold players accountable under MLF.
  • McManus - $5M / $3M - disappointing part of the Packers very disappointing ST (other than punter), missed several big kicks and battled some injuries.

Don't look now... Nixon made the Pro-Bowl as alternate after Seahawk had to step up with making the Super Bowl

Packers CB Keisean Nixon named to 2026 NFL Pro Bowl Games

This stuck out to me. Maybe my memory is a lil fuzzy but this has been an issue in this organization way before MLF. I recall several instances where players f’ed up royally and were out there the next play/series/game. Maybe I’m just ol skool but IMO, accountability is a thing of the past.

I'd like to see Willis and Doubs resign but doubt that will happen.

Willis could potentially net a decent comp pick based on his contract with a new team I believe because someone will throw a ton of money at him to be a bridge starter. Doubs maybe but being a mid-level receiver he's probably not going to get big FA money when a team can just draft someone cheaper to always be hurt and drop passes.

My guess is the guy they will get the best pick from is Rasheed Walker...if they don't resign him...and I don't think they will.

I agree... my understanding not a lot of tackles in FA this year.

R. Walker, Doubs, Willis, Q. Walker and Rhyan could all factor in formula for comp picks... I would still like Q. Walker back... but appears that may not happen now.

Ken Ingalls(spelling) is the best follow in Twitter for Packers cap talk. Doubs, Willis, Walker(both) and likely Enagbare are all gone. We could cut Gary. Hes great against the run but just doesnt affect the passer enough to warrant his salary but a great dude by all accounts. I dont expect us to be overly active because of our complete whiffs last offseason. I expect both Banks and Hobbs back because injuries affected both of them and its jus tnot worth cutting them. Our CB group is just laughable especially considering how great out pair of safeties we have.

I realize this sounds dumb, but a better pass rush makes bad corners decent, decent corners good and good corners awesome. Net result is they need actual pass rushers other than Parsons. Where do they get them, I don't know, but they need them in a bad way.

Agreed. Pass rush greatly helps corners and early in the season, our corners were more than adequate even without Hobbs but as the season wore on teams learned they could just dink and dunk the middle of the field on us. I am excited to see what Gannon could bring but man I want an attacking defense. I want them to cause havoc!

Anyone concerned that they haven’t let Rich B go?ST has been nothing but. Gut has stated he has faith in him. Seems like more of the same with this organization. Not impressed.

Yes but hes not going anywhere. He is too well liked in the building.

So I guess they are more concerned about bonding than winning :L
He NEVER spend on coaches other than the HC yet he is handsomely paid. HE has produced everywhere other than GB...

Which would have you believe there is a front office issue.

There is absolutely an issue in operations up there. We invest next to nothing on position coaches. Thats why we almost always promote from within and rarely get poached by other teams. However our FO has had alot of people sniped by other teams. Just look at what Wolf is doing with the Pats.

Not trying to take anything away from the Pats success this year but their pathway to the SB was like the perfect storm. If Nix plays in that game…Denver would be in.
