2026 NFL Draft: Quarterback Class

Nuss was the best of the Senior Bowl group by far. Allar looked good in drills at the combine. I think the Rams may look at Allar on day 3. I think Simpson is out of their plans (if he was ever there) after trading 29.

Thinks Ty Simpson is a fringe 1st round QB, decent arm and legs, his throwing motion needs work. Biggest issue is that his size isnt the best and didnt play well when hurt which is a bad combo.

well I did quote your post, but really I mean anyone could answer this. It happens all the time. Some QB no one was talking about ends up the class of the field.

I really don’t see any of them making too much noise tbh, but I haven’t spent a great deal of time watching their tape or anything.

Big part of it is which teams they end up on honestly.

and the guys who do spend a lot of time watching the tape, even watching tape WITH the prospects miss all the time on QBs.

I suppose I could throw out what is no more than a guess on who it would be but I do believe someone in this draft will become at worse a middle of the pack franchise guy and decent chance better than Mendoza.

Nothing cracks me up more than seeing people refer to this stuff as "tape" in 2026. This was always a term used by NFL reporters to imply that they had some secret access to player "videotape" that let them see more than the general public. It was likely BS back then but now it's just a catch-all term for "I watched some highlight video on YouTube"...but reporters don't want to admit they're just firing up YT like the rest of us so they still call it "tape" to pretend that they're still insiders. Just kills me.

With regards to Chris Simms, I think he has a decent amount of QB knowledge and aspires to be a GM but thats never happening.

He also talks about prospects like they're in a meat market. Has to be one of the weirdest analysts out there. Talks about players butts and how good looking they are.


I also think that if you're just watching highlights you're obviously missing a ton but thats pretty obvious. Generally the insiders are people who know what the teams want to do and not how good the players are.

Funnier to me are the fans who think they have a clue....especially when it comes to QBs. I mean, elite of elite GMs watch hours of tape (or film) on these guys, even watch WITH them to ask what they see. They talk to their coaches, teammates, family members, etc. And they miss all the time.

But some fan(s) "knew" that Wyoming's Josh Allen would be a stud?

It's also amusing when fans say the real drafters reach and it's based on what fake drafters think they will do. Never stop to think maybe the fake drafters were wrong.

I can buy some of this......but teams are like the CIA when it comes to draft intel and they don't want their real opinions on guys to get out. The insiders guess what the real drafters might want to do.

Especially when it's clear that it's a complete crapshoot even for GMs. Even worse when fans flip out about a team "drafting a guy too early." And all they're doing is repeating the points made by experts on TV...while ignoring that these guys are making all of it up as well.

spot on to all of that. Elite of elite GMs/FOs miss on QBs all the time. Look at Bmore? Badly missed on Boller but essentially lucked into LJ...even they did not know how good he'd be or they don't take a TE ahead of him mid round 1.

as to second comment the term, reach, is so overused. Reach based on what? What a fake drafter thought real drafters might do? I'd be willing to bet if we could see every draft board they'd look wildly different and nearly every pick would be a reach on someone's board.
