Rags hire Quick as Director of Goaltender Development, nice position for him to start his potential coaching career.

Close to home, probably paid well, an expert in that field, not a bad gig.

Robertson signed, 1 year/$12M. He is a UFA next summer so one of two things will happen:

- he is eligible to sign a contract Jan 1
- he gets traded at some point this year if he is intent to walk next summer, Dallas would get a haul

Avoided arbitration, helps Dallas' salary cap issue at least for this year and that's a very fair price for a close to 100 point player.

That's the arbitration game though, the team will always come in super low. My guess is they'll settle around $3.5M or so, arbitration award or settling before arbitration (his hearing is Thursday so they have until then).

In 2007 Cammalleri went in with a $6M ask after an 82 point season, Dumbo offered $2.6M because Cammalleri was coming off his ELC and went straight for the top, Dumbo went low.

Arbitrator awarded 2 years/$6.7M, $3.1M in 2007-08 and $3.6M in 2008-09. He tanked in 2007-08 going to 51 points and Dumbo traded him to Calgary in June 2008 for a 2nd and a 1st (that 2nd was later traded by LA to Carolina with O'Sullivan for Justin Williams, the Canes picked Dummy of all players. I'd say that worked out well for LA).

Once a player goes to arbitration, it's a matter of time they get traded it seems - it irritates GMs or the player feels slighted and they want out.

In Cammaleri's case he played hard ball on his ELC and subsequent contracts overall and Dumbo moved him at a high value, something Bowlby never learned under him.

Greave got 3 x 5

Greave got 3 x 5

Damn, that seems kind of high - it's 3 years/$15M. I thought $3M would be a little low but $3.5M would be OK based on his experience. Guess not.

Identical contract to Petersen, slightly more experience for Greaves (76 GP vs 54 GP) but almost similar numbers (Greaves better career GAA, Petersen better career SP%) when the contracts were handed out.

Wonder if it will bite Columbus in the ass like it did LA...

I got bored here late in the day at work and decided to go through and glance at the first second and third rounds of the draft starting at 2000.
Its amazing how many picks outside of the top 5 picks never really amount to anything. I know we get on the Kings a lot but it really seems at some point that its really a crap shoot as to which picks really pan out. Dont get me wrong there are some gems (although not many) that come in the later rounds. Just found it interesting.

Thus why if you're going to tank, tank hard. Ideally you want a number 1 or a number 2.

But then again Doughty is living proof you get a franchise altering player while Buster is living proof you don't even though both were 2OA. What's even more impressive about Doughty is he went straight from draft in June to opening night roster in October as an 18 year old and as a defender which is a very hard thing to do.

Kempe is also a great story for being an extremely late first round pick but also why Yanetti gets to keep his job.

"See? See? I told you I know what I'm doing. I'll go stroke myself off now for 12 years."

It really was eye opening to see how many players on the list just vanished and never panned out. You hear someone was a first round pick and just assume you have a solid NHL'r.
The real reason I was looking is to see who was picked after the Kings had made their pick. Basically who the could have picked.

Kinga draft history is littered with guys who became solid players within a 1-4 range after the Kings pick who either busted or didn't live up to the draft position.

I seriously don't understand how Kings drafting basically misses the sure shots but then finds gems now and again in the later rounds, you'd think it would be the other way around.

TA on every team's biggest on ice villain. Not sure I agree with this because a) he's a King - twice- and those days of his shenanigans against LA are so far in the rear view they have almost lost their luster.

Perry showed up on several teams' list actually:

Los Angeles Kings
Corey Perry

Perry was the Kings’ incessant pest of a SoCal neighbor that you loathe. Players would get their pound of flesh, and Perry just kept coming back for more whether four times a season or eight. The slashes and jabs. The accidental-on-purpose falls over goalies. Even the squirt of a water bottle into a glove. The hate lessened some after he left Anaheim, but some Kings fans still may never truly get behind someone who is set to play for L.A. for the second time in his career next season. — Eric Stephens

One King showed up on someone else's team:

San Jose Sharks
Dustin Brown

Does that knee-on-knee hit that took out Tomas Hertl still make your blood boil? It wasn’t just that 2013 hit to injure the popular rookie that made the Kings winger public enemy No. 1 to Sharks fans. Brown’s hard-hitting ways could drive them batty. A direct rivalry with a team is always helpful when you’re facing it repeatedly over seasons, and Brown certainly qualifies. Watching him score crushing goals in playoff series only added to the anger. — Eric Stephens

Will say seeing the picture of Couture literally surrounded by four Kings (Brown, Kopitar, Doughty and someone else, maybe Muzzin?) during the 2014 POs and it's an action shot of Brown leveling him from behind and his rat face wincing is timeless.

My AC unit took one hell of a time to completely crap out during this heat wave we are having in SoCal, am having companies come out and diagnose.

One guy told me the entire unit needs to be replaced at $8500, it's only 17 years old but has the old R22 refrigerant in it. He seemed shwarmy to me and unfortunately was a referral from the GF. Charged me $200 and then said my compressor is out. You're out bud.

Second company through the Costco program, Home Comfort texted me the night before and were a no call no show the next day. You're out too.

Third company, also through Costco is Econo Air not far from me in Anaheim. Not only did they confirm and show up within their two hour window today but the guy who came out was their CEO. He was here maybe 5 minutes, said you do not need a new unit, it's a refrigerant issue and I'll send a tech out tomorrow for $99. If you go with us it'll be credited towards the repairs.

His name? Mike Richards - I can't make this shit up.

This has become nonsense.

Just today I canceled my auto renew for Centre Ice, going to try and use the Fire Stick app in the fall and hopefully it works because I'm thinking of dropping my DTV a tier too, I'm at the second highest package because you need that to be able to watch the Kings - no package below carries that channel (692).

If it works this will save me about $20 a month on my DTV bill, this month alone was $235 and a 12 month/$50 month discount fell off so my bill sky rocketed. I was able to catch every Giants game last football season and the stick saved me close to $600 between YTTV and Sunday Ticket, hope it works for Kings games and the POs.

We pay enough for this stuff and streaming services that once seemed like a cost effective alternative no longer are and we are getting reamed. My Netflix family plan is now $29.99, used to be like $14.

Thus why again, I do not feel bad for doing what I do. Fight the greed however you can.

Moverare leaves the NHL and signs with EV Zug in his home country of Switzerland.

He wasn't flashy, no real offense but did his job. I thought he would have gone to an NHL team looking for a B3 pair at least, guess not.

Well liked and always seemed like a happy dude, good luck buddy.

Would have liked to see him get more of a chance, maybe it was a language barrier thing? Seemed solid enough to replace 1/3 of who the King use on D

I used to have Center Ice and had no problem paying for it, then It started costing more while giving me less Kings games. Finally it just pissed me off and I havent gone back, tried a few other services that charge and they were as fucke.d up as Center Ice....I have zero issue paying for a service, but give me the service, needeing 3 or 4 subscriptions to watch Kings all season and then takes 6 months to cancel....ya, fuc.k you. Thats when I started asking for streaming options here and have 2 that are a little finicky but work fine once streaming game tho a minute behind or something.

There was a language barrier at the beginning but he spent 10 years in the organization, many of those in Ontario so I would assume that improved over time.

I don't think he was given a fair shot but the Kings have also been a veteran heavy team the last 5-6 years so a spot was going to be tough for him.

And absolutely agree, he couldn't have been any worse than Dummy or Peepee on that D3 pair. He actually filled in admirably on the right side being a LH when Doughty missed over half the season with the broken ankle, Roy was gone and all RD shifted up a pair.

Celebrini signs 5 years/$94M and surpasses Carlsson as the highest paid player in the NHL at $18.4M a season.

These salaries are commensurate with the rising cap but holy hell it's insane seeing these types of numbers now.

He is only 20. What do you think his next contract will be when he is 25? That will be crazy.. He looks to be on pace to the new face of the NHL after McD retires. Crazy to think McD is already 29. Seems like he was a kid just a couple of years ago

Usually those contracts are cup killers. I argue against them constantly. I know everyone wants a McJesus on their team, but the facts are it makes winning a cup even more challenging. This doesnt mean sign nothing but scrubs. You can still get top talent and have more room for a solid team top to bottom. I think Crosby is the only top team % cap guy to win, but I think many of those players were very cap friendly. Kind of good news for Kings if they are smart LOL. But its easier to pack a solid team with 2nd teir type guys and win then it is to fill a team around no cap
