2025 NHL Awards

Hughes, Cale Makar of the Colorado Avalanche and Zach Werenski of the Columbus Blue Jackets were announced Tuesday as the finalists for the trophy given “to the defence player who demonstrates throughout the season the greatest all-round ability in the position.” The award is voted on by members of the Professional Hockey Writers Association.

I do not think Hughes will win this one (despite injuries and the team he is on) and I would love to see Werenski win it but I think Makar is going to run away with this one.

I think you're right, it's pretty much gotta be Makar.

And it's a shame that Zach won't get any consideration for the Hart, but he was pretty much the entire team.

i am surprised by Kuemper .... but yeah Hellebuyck is getting this one
