I guess the 79 win line by Vegas was probably too optimistic. And they have to pick this year to implement the draft lottery.

Especially getting hit in the hand. We seem to lose someone for half the year every year to this exact injury.

He played 40 games at 2nd base, 26 games at catcher, 7 games at 3rd base, 5 games at center field, 3 games at left field and 1 game at right field last year. He also played around the diamond in college as well.

I am guessing its due to the shortened spring, but I find it interesting that the Giants have invited 25 players to camp but only 3 catchers (and, arguably, a pitcher) would be considered prospects. Of the 15 pitchers, only one is homegrown, Norwith Gudino, and he is probably a borderline C level prospect at best. The other 14 pitchers are guys the Giants signed in the offseason or made waiver claims on toward the end of last season and were able to stash them away after being dfa'd. Same for the 4 infielders and 2 outfielders.

I always thought he was a plus plus defender. But I have read reports on him since we signed him that he is a defensive liability. Am I remembering his defensive prowess incorrectly or has he just drastically declined?

Tough to say as I didn't follow him regularly. I'm hoping his recent mittfuckery is just trying to overdo it in ST to impress his new team.

Because he looked really rough out there. Like, hide him in LF rough.

Yesterday, Slater and Duggar were the batboys for the spring training game. Apparently, it is the punishment for being in last place in the fantasy football league. The article I read mentioned that Crawford established this rule in 2020 but Samardzija refused to accept his punishment that year.
