Starting the pain early!

Seriously if Reynolds is dealt they better get a kings ransom for him. They have him locked up for 4 years.

Anyway I am not opposed to a deal since I doubt they will compete in Five years and sell high.

Reynolds is the caliber of player with the age and contract situation you build around.

I really do not see the point in trading him, unless they think there is zero chance of being competitive before he hits free agency.

Dealing Reynolds within the next few years would somewhat strike a "they're not even trying" vibe with me.

Really until they prove they are trying this is no different from the past many years.

As for Reynolds, trust me I am not for dealing Reynolds because he has a favorable contract and a top talent. But if the other "talent" they have is still 3-4 years away, and Reynolds falls off they lost out on gaining assets. It is a gamble either way but if they get overwhelmed with a deal I wouldn't be surprised if they take it.

Moran was DFA'ed. He was essentially redundant with Yoshi resigned.

Now that Baseball is back I guess we are ready for the pain that is the 2022 Pirates.

Until they do something right their best players are going to continue to turn down long-term offers.
First was Hayes and now reports that Reynolds turned down an offer.

Hopefully signing Hayes is a building bock for a few decent years in next 3-4 years, before he outgrows that contract and demands more, then is traded 4-5 years from now. Hope he can stay healthy as well.

His first outing didn't go as planned but still good to see him get the chance.

Not really sure it reduces the odds of them trading him.

Taking arbitration off the table might actually make him more tradable.

Hayes is the star inked long-term that they will try to build around. Hopefully, the likes of Cruz, Gonzalez and Davis make it and establish themselves within the next few years, but they need a lot more pitching in the organization, and Reynolds is an asset that can bring in a high-ceiling young arm or two in a trade.

Totally. I truly think it makes it easier to trade him, sad to think the positive is the fact they Pirates are actually trying to attempt to pay players.

And I take the Nutting comment with a grain of salt and actually had a small chuckle when reading it.

Nutting stated his belief “that we’ve rebuilt that foundation to the point that now we can really focus on the major league club.”
