Ok, watched the game. Keeping it in perspective, the starters basically played the first half. This was detroits super bowl. This was GBs last meaningless game and it showed, specially on defense.

If Love was the starting QB…Lafleur would not be considered for coach of the year.

Fingers crossed the defense and the scheme comes to play in the post season or we will see a repeat of GB getting knocked out before the SB. I get it, this game didn’t mean anything but the biggest thing that gets under my skin is how the defense lets opposing offenses score before halftime. I don’t know why, but to me, it’s a sign of a bad defense.

Think the Packers got out of the game what they wanted.
- First string offense got some TDs
- Bakhtiari and Meyers rejoined OL and played a few series
- No serious injuries to starters

Not going to put to much more into that game... other than Packers got burned by similar trick play twice in same game. The player that rolled out to right flat for each play was all by himself. Blown assignment somewhere.

That’s another point about the defense. This defense appears to be easily fooled and I’m not referring to the Detroit game.

The good news for the playoffs

1 big thing each returning Packers player can add to Super Bowl run

LT David Bakhtiari

Injury: Torn ACL (missed 16 games to start 2021)

One big thing: Had Bakhtiari been available in last year’s NFC title game, the Packers probably win the game and go on to play in the Super Bowl. The Buccaneers ransacked the Packers passing game with pressure off the edges. With Bakhtiari back, the Packers now have a five-time All-Pro who – even after coming off a significant injury – can better matchup against the elite pass-rushers littering the path to the Super Bowl. It’s fair to wonder if the Packers could become a tad more explosive and even more efficient in the passing game with one of the game’s best pass-blockers back at left tackle.

CB Jaire Alexander

Injury: Shoulder (out since Week 4)

One big thing: Rookie Eric Stokes and midseason pickup Rasul Douglas have been mostly excellent at cornerback without Alexander on the field. But quarterbacks in the playoffs are often the best of the best at finding weak spots and exploiting them. Tom Brady found matchups against Kevin King and Chandon Sullivan over and over again last January. If Alexander joins Stokes and Douglas, will there be an obvious weakness at cornerback? The Packers would have a terrific trio to face off against the deep passing games of teams like the Cowboys, Buccaneers, Rams and Cardinals.

OLB Za'Darius Smith

Injury: Back surgery (Out since Week 1)

One big thing: Teams don’t get through the playoff gauntlet without being able to consistently disrupt the quarterback in the pocket. If Smith returns, even in a limited or rotational role, the Packers will be loaded with disruptors. Rashan Gary (81 pressures) and Preston Smith (62 pressures) combined for 143 total pressures in 2021. There would be opportunities in obvious passing situations to get Gary and both Smiths on the field together, especially considering how effective Za’Darius has been when moved inside over the past two seasons. The difference in games between great teams can often be one or two high-leverage situations, like a third-down play in the red zone or late in the game. Having Za’Darius on the field greatly increases Green Bay’s ability to disrupt the quarterback and get a stop.

WR Randall Cobb

Injury: Core surgery (Out since Week 12)

One big thing: Trust, and where it manifests most for Aaron Rodgers in Cobb – on third down and in the red zone. Rodgers always trusts him to find a pocket of space and be where he needs to be, especially in the middle of the field and in the scoring area. He might not put up huge numbers, but don’t be surprised if Cobb makes one or two important plays in a postseason game this month. And remember, the last time Cobb was on the field and healthy, he created 95 yards and a score in one half of play against the Rams, a potential divisional-round opponent.

C Josh Myers

Injury: Knee (missed 10 games)

One big thing: Myers is a rookie with five games of NFL experience, but he’s bigger and more effective than Lucas Patrick in the run game from the center position, and his return allows the Packers to use Patrick at right guard over inconsistent rookie Royce Newman. Myers at center and Patrick at right guard is certainly an upgrade over Patrick at center and Newman at right guard, especially in pass protection.

RT Billy Turner

Injury: Knee (missed final 4 regular season games)

One big thing: If Turner returns, the Packers will have four of their five preferred starters along the offensive line available to start the playoffs. Not having Elgton Jenkins is a blow, but Jon Runyan Jr. has played well at left guard. When healthy, Bakhtiari and Turner give the Packers a legitimate starting duo at offensive tackle – much better than Turner and Rick Wagner during last season’s playoff run.

OLB Whitney Mercilus

Injury: Biceps (Out since Week 10)

One big thing: If nothing else, the depth for the Packers at edge rusher is now much better. Mercilus, in four games in Green Bay before his injury, produced 10 pressures and a sack, so there’s still gas left in the tank. If there’s an injury at outside linebacker or the Packers need another rusher on the field in a big spot, would you feel better about Mercilus or inconsistent second-year linebacker Jonathan Garvin?

Getting pumped!

Just wondering if any of you live in the Fox Valley near Oshkosh/RosenDale? And if so if there are afew tickets left for the divisional game would you be interested in going to the game next weekend?

I am a board member of a club called the Madison Packer Backers. It is a club of roughly 400 people that owns 65 season tickets that we share

For some reason it is hard to get club members to buy all of the playoff tickets most likely because of the cold temps. Currently the weather projection for next weekend will be similar to the Viking game with high temps of 15 thaat day and lows near 2 at night. So most likely will be like 8 - 10 degrees.

The club currenly has maybe 6 tickets left for the game. The requirement though to use the tickets if they are not bought by club members before next weekend is that you need to ride on the charter buses we use to head from Madison to Green Bay. Once we leave Madison we make one stop in Rosendale to pick up additional Club members. So if you are in that area you could head to Rosendale and be picked up for the trip to Green Bay

The cost is $187 for the game ticket and bus ride

I think some club members may be waiting to see what time the Packer game is scheduled. Many will not like the Sunday night game as it gets to be a late return to Madison after night games with some needing to work in th morning

BUt if there are tickets left I can share here if anyone is able or interested

The Mercilus return is a surprise. When he was in, the D was kicking arse. Good pick up.

Grew up in Appleton and worked in Fox Valley for couple of years after college... now however very far away in South America.

Goal is to see 1 more Packers regular season game at Lambeau in my life as rarely back in Wisconsin during football season. Typically there in mid/late July or early Aug and check out training camp for a day when I do get back.

Heh. I live southwest of Oshkosh near the hwy 26/41 intersection toward Rosendale. You couldn't have described my residence location much more precisely.

Are the tickets all claimed now?

Yes the tickets have all been claimed as of a few days ago.

We make a stop in Rosendale just as you enter town on the south end at the Tabberts restaurant and always pick up 4 or 5 people

Passed through Rosendale many times in my life in late 80s to mid 90s for college and when lived in Janesville and returned to Fox Valley. One cop town... sat either in parking lot on south end of town or grain elevator on north end of town on Hwy 26 waiting to catch someone.

Know a couple of people from Rosendale.

Yes indeed the speed trap capitol of WI

You best go exactly the speed limit going through that town. On game day when traveling through that town may times there is an out of state Packer fan pulled over from Iowa or IL. Sometimes even Bears fans heading up for a Chicago game

this punter needs to learn the following phrase... "would you like fries with that?... because he's a fucking moron... and you can't blame this entire game on him, but his issues with holding messed with Crosby all year and that 4 step punt just told the world that any big moment is too big for him.

If you don't believe me, take a look at any time the Packers needed a good punt from him he didn't deliver...now if there was nothing at stake he would boot a 60 yarder, but if the situation states they needed a 50 yarder to flip the field, you could forget it...he's a mental midget and needs to go...no mental toughness makes him a loser

Special teams was an issue all season, so no surprise of the issues tonight.

Long offseason with many questions awaits the Packers.

Not that many questions... 2 major questions are will Rodgers return and can they actually figure out how to put together a kicking game... if they figure out the kicking game and Rodgers returns they have something... they don't figure out the kicking game or ignore it...again for the 25th straight year it will bite them in the ass again...
