2021 Roster Cut Down Day

Some teams have been slashing their rosters and teams like the Chiefs have been very active in reducing the roster and getting some late round draft picks for their excess players. Today is August 31, 2021 and every team must be down to the official 53 man roster by 4:00 pm.

Per Bill Belichick: "Our roster positions #47 through #53 have always been fluid on the final cut down day. I don't expect this year tio be any different."

Watch for several players to make the roster, get put on IR and be available in 3-8 weeks. That will open up spots on the roster for players that BB wants to protect or pick up from other teams.

The NFL announced the Practice Squads have officially been opened up from the "normal" 10 players to 15 players as it was in 2020.

Look for things to start moving around 9:00 am EST. The 4:00 pm deadline is NY time, not California time.

I don't think Jones will suck. Just hope he doesn't get hurt. Additionally, Hoyer looked the best against the Giants in my opinion albeit against the scrubs.

My guess (yes guess) is Mac won the job and Bill gave Cam his wish, a chance to choose an opportunity where he thinks he has a chance to start.

That's a very big albeit. Now I'm not saying him playing well against scrubs is a bad thing, just that it's meaningless.

As much as a disliked Cam as a QB this is a very odd cutting.. I mean why keep him for as long as you did only to cut him at the last 2nd. Yes I know they were still "figuring out" Jones but still... He can at least run.... Hoyer isn't a spectacular back up either.
