Series Thread: 2021 NLDS Giants vs StL/LAD

I have been a proponent of throwing Webb in game 1 as our new ace. But a point was made on the radio yesterday that made sense…

If we start with Gas, than both Gas and Webb will go on 1 extra day rest. If we start with Webb, than Webb will go normal, but Gas will be on 2 extra days.

It is probably best to keep both as “normal” as possible.

G1 ... G2 ... travel ... G3 ... G4 ... travel ... G5

Unless they pitch on 3 days rest ... it looks like the game 1 starter is also the game 5 starter. And I can't guess who we start in game 4 ... unless we are down 2-1 ... then maybe Gausman on 3 days rest?

I’d be all for this against St Louis, not as much against LA. LA owns Gas and I think it’s imperative they win game 1.

I agree .... since the game 1 starter is also the game 5 starter ... I swap Gas and Charolette if it's the doggies

I just checked on the 2021 schedule .... Gas only faced the doggies 3 times. Once in May, once in June and once in July. He was great in May. Gave up 3 runs in 5 innings in June. Gave up 3 runs in 3 innings in July. The July start was pretty much when he came back. Hard to get a good read on him against the doggies. I think it will depend on his splitter that day.
For me the question us .... who would you want on the mound for a game 5 at home?and
