It may hurt the Seahawks but Reed isn't going to get some huge contract in the offseason.

What am I missing here? He is under contract for one more year so I don't know why they would let him go now........unless it is a cap maneuver. But a long term deal would potentially also bring immediate cap relief, so...........??

According to what is being reported, the Hawks asked him to restructure his contract to free up cap space, Reed demanded he get extended, things got ugly and they agreed to part ways.

Not a good look for either side.

Hmmmmm........that seems odd. I don't know how it would come to that unless that was the plan by management going in. We are looking for draft picks.

Reed is quite good but he isn't a game changer. His production drops when he doesn't have a dominant DE next to him. I would prefer not to lose him though.

Too bad we lose Reed but I'd rather have Dunlap. I can't remember what thread it was but I recall posting that we'd get rid of Reed to keep Dunlap, or that I'd want to. Someone said we should keep Reed instead but bleh. That DL was doing jack fuck all until Dunlap arrived.

Reed is good, not great. Sorry to see him have to go, but it means adding a very productive pass rusher.

I hope it's a trade. We certainly can use the draft ammo

yeah if Reed could have had another 8+ sack season things change but that one year looks more like just a banner year for him. Solid above average DT but not elite. Has to Ability to flash "sometimes". good piece to have in your defense and is hard but not impossible to replace for less.

I liked Reed, sucks though.

Yah Collier was doing okay last year. Poona Ford was the guy we couldn't afford to let go and we rresigned him for 2 years. If he keeps developing the way he has so far he's going to be EXXXXPENSIVE as F in 2023.

That's my guess... Hawks figured Dunlap would make them better - more than Reed would have if they had to choose between the two..

Well I think that's the hope, but still a lot of unknowns.... Darrell Taylor has yet to play, Green hasn't really been the force we'd hoped for... yet (dude is only 23 lol), LJ Collier showed some flashes last year but hasn't proven himself. The talent is there, but whether it materializes is a big question mark. I wouldn't say it's a strength yet.

Poona Ford is about the only 'solid' young guy that's proven on the roster at the moment.

Speculation at this point........but it does make sense. SF isn't going to keep $26+ million on the books if they are taking a rookie QB.

It's fine. Most feel he'll end up in NE. Not sure the Pats will be willing to trade for him though, when they can just wait for the 49ers to cut him.
