Makes sense to me, the salary cap is the salary cap, can't keep everyone.

3 Ways the 49ers can Maximize their Super Bowl Window in 2020

Don't agree with any of these three things, especially 1 and 2. Do agree we need to extend Kittle cause thats a no brainer. Don't agree you just give him what he wants just to get him extended.

From here on out its clear there will be TOUGH decisions to make due to cap reasons. We have a bunch of FA's to next off-season and a few players we want to extend (Warner and McGlinchey). The extra 2-3 million/year you give Kittle might affect 2-3 other players? It is similar (not same) to DeFo, you're able to re-sign other pieces by not giving him the extra $2-3 million.

If the current highest paid TE is $10M/season, don't see why $14M is unreasonable, or $15M/season? It shouldn't need to be $20M/season like a WR.

Then there is the possibility the cap stays the same, or even reduces? This will squeeze everyone even more.
