This is just the same crap they pulled with the Wentz trade offer where they leaked he was going to be "traded within days" before the SB hoping some team panics and offers more than they should. Of course Wentz wasn't actually traded for like another month after that.

Bears assigned the franchise tag to WR Allen Robinson.

The Bucs used the franchise tag on Chris Godwin.

PFF predicting that CB Mike Hilton is expected to be signed to a 3yr - $12M contract with the Steelers.

I would be absolutely floored by that. $4M per year for a top 3 slot CB??? Not a chance in hell. Tavon Young, Kenny Moore & Justin Coleman are making $8-9M per season. That will most likely be the FLOOR to what he will be asking for.

I was thinking $6M/year for Hilton

The Chiefs just released both their starting tackles, Fisher and Schwartz (who missed most of last season).

He's easily a top 3 slot CB. Tough year to hit FA with the cap decreasing, so you're probably right. If I were him I wouldn't sign anything more than a 1yr deal just so that I could turn around and hit UFA again once the TV deal goes through. Hell, every UFA this offseason should want to do the same.

.....and no team should be offering 1 year deals.

I said it in another thread but any team that uses its cap space this offseason on a 1 year market value contract for a player is pissing away a valuable asset.

For the few teams that have real cap space, they should be using it as a way to improve not just this year but 2, 3, 4 years into the future.

If I am a GM, I refuse to even entertain the thought of giving out a 1 year deal unless I get to 1 week into training camp and I still have some space available. And even then I would only be offering players about 1/2to 1/3rd what pff is saying they are worth (their projected contracts are jokes).

Bills re-signed LB Matt Milano to a four-year, $44 million contract.

Per ESPN's Adam Schefter, the deal includes $24 million guaranteed. All signs had pointed toward the 26-year-old reaching the open market, with Bills GM Brandon Beane saying the No. 163 overall pick of the 2017 draft had "earned that right." Instead, Milano has made the unusual call to pass up on seeing what else is out there mere days before the negotiating period begins. An every-down playmaker who flies all over the field making plays, Milano's lone bugaboo has been staying healthy. He was limited to 10 games in 2020 by chest and hamstring issues. When healthy, Milano makes plays at every level of the field. He is a key cog for defensive-minded head coach Sean McDermott.

Panthers re-signed OT Taylor Moton to a one-year, $13.754 million contract.

The tackle's tag is now guaranteed. Although it is highly rare, unsigned tags can be rescinded. The sides still have until July 15 to reach a long-term accord. Headed into his age-27 campaign, Moton has emerged as one of the league's best right tackles, though that's a princely sum to pay someone not on the blindside. Of course, 2020 LT Russell Okung is headed to free agency, and Moton could be asked to kick to the left side.

Texans signed RB Mark Ingram, formerly of the Ravens, to a one-year contract.

Per ESPN's Adam Schefter, the deal is worth "up to" $3 million. Waived nearly two months ago, Ingram never developed much of a market. With David Johnson back with the Texans via a restructure, Ingram will once again be a part of a committee. If the money is to be believed, he will be the clear-cut No. 2 behind Johnson. Finally fading after years of strong between-the-tackles running and decent pass catching, 31-year-old Ingram will lack standalone fantasy value. Even in the event of a Johnson injury, Ingram would be unlikely to be a plug-and-play replacement. He's a reserve back on what will be a terrible team if Deshaun Watson is traded.
