ok boys, I didn't pay a second of attention to the draft. How would yinz grade the Steelers draft overall?

I’m satisfied. If you get three starters out of the first four rounds it’s a smash success. And that seems possible at least.

Loudermilk and a punter... it’s like they were doing good but just wanted to lower expectations or make sure we didn’t get too excited.

If the OL and coaching staff doesn’t ruin it... Harris is going to be fun to watch. Kinda jacked to see it but also kinda nervous that everything else won’t be fixed enough for it to matter.

I'm convinced that Colbert & Tomlin started drinking after the 4th Rd... Even though I LOVE the Roche pick.

Drunk people get lucky too.

so sounds like a solid, better than good draft but nothing superb. I feel like typical Steelers.

thanks :suds:
Honestly it felt like one of those sneaky good drafts... They plugged the holes, and even provided all the needed depth they were missing. Definitely focused on revamping the running game with 4 straight offensive picks. Colbert waiting on OL because of the depth in those pools was a really smart decision. He ended up getting starter-level talent at both C & OT and didn't have to spend higher than a 3rd Rd pick. Instead he focused on grabbing top end talent at skill positions that had thinner depth. He got arguably the best RB & 2nd best TE in the draft (best pure TE).

If they can get rookie starters out of 3 players in this draft then its a homerun. But it really depends on what sort of returns they get from the top 3 guys.

I'm good with the Punter. Berry needs replaced. He's a Ray Guy award. It's only a couple picks before the end of the draft, and it's almost a guaranteed starter selection. Who else should they have taken?

I think our chonkin' Punter is gonna be a fan favorite. Like Sepulverizer was until he became an injury issue.

I would have liked a higher Center pick, and overall more emphasis on OL, but Colbert has one of the best drafting records in the league. He knows better than us.

I honestly don’t have a problem with the punter pick where he was picked. Just couldn’t pass on the low hanging fruit. After all, your entertainment is my passion.

Well its a bit harsh but he's not wrong for the most part. Going OT Jenkins, C Humphrey, and RB Sermon would have addressed the bigger issues plaguing this offense. That's why I think there is going to be a lot of pressure on Harris, Freiermuth & Green this year.

But also knocking them for not having the appearance of a plan for life after Ben is stupid. There was nobody within reach to them that would have improved their QB depth this year. Outside of trading up to 11 for Justin Fields which would have mortgaged their future during a rebuild... Who would have satisfied that "appearance" for Kiper? Trask? Mond? Mills? Book? Those were the only other QBs drafted after the 1st round... And debatably NONE of them are better than what they already have.

I think McKoy and Brown can make this team.

Fuck Mel Kiper the Ravens Fan, and the stupid haircut that brought him.
Basically if you don't draft one of his buddies clients your draft grade sucks.
Also I take this as a positive, if Kiper doesn't like the draft that means it was good draft for the Steelers.
