I've actually seen a couple of these for a change... Mank, Sound of Metal and The Trial of the Chicago 7. All 3 were good, but none were great imo. Sound of Metal would be my pick of the 3.

I've watched all of them except The Father. Nomadland is the best of the bunch although Judas and the Black Messiah was my favorite.

I haven’t seen anything but Sound of Metal. And that was just OK.

Steven Yuen is an Oscar nominee? Look at little Glenn, all growed up...

I always thank the Oscars for identifying the movies with the highest suck factor that you should avoid entirely.

All packaged nice and neat under the title "Best Picture"!

Is this just your latest hot take or have you actually seen any of them? The 3 I've seen are all decent flicks.

Crap year for movies really. A lot of films were held back because of COVID and the production/theater shutdowns.

So movies 25+ years old only? So it doesn't really matter what the Academy picks for you.

I've been disappointed with the last (quite a few) Best Picture winners. That last one I watched was The Shape of Water. Yuck! Hey, at least I gave a few a try rather than judge unseen. I think it's been 4 or 5 in a row I've really disliked so I don't see the point. The last Best Picture I liked was Lord of the Rings so long ago.

Best Picture isn't always going to be the best movie for everyone. Parasite was a very good movie but probably my personal No. 4 movie for that year. But 2019 was a really strong year and really any of the best picture nominees were really good.
