To some degree I get it... Rapinoe is the one I really don't get... She made it 9-0, it was Thailand and she has scored in the last two World Cups as well (So it isn't like it was her first WC goal...)...

Run up the score, I have no problem there, but her 46th international goal - scoring the 9th in a game in the 79th minute - doesn't require a retarded celebration like this at any level.

I'd actually be embarrassed about that celebration, too. WTF is it? Even if it's some inside joke with your le boz sisters, it still is lame af.

Okay, so I dug on google to find out WTF this particular instance of celebration was about, because it seemed WAY over the top and out of place... Rapinoe says it was a shout out to her "buddy" Ashlyn Harris (Backup Keeper) who has been battling chronic knee issues.... Pinoe says it was "spontaneous", but not sure I'm buyin' that... It WAS her only goal of the match, so I guess that is why it didn't occur until the 9th goal...

I don't know... Gotta be a better way IMO..

1) it's not really faux outrage - the USWNT is obnoxious, and making themselves out to be victims (again)
2) that's certainly not a problem VT's got to worry about, unfortunately.
3) 13-0 in soccer is closer to 130-0 in college football, may be worse. if any team was doing full-team choreographed celebrations against what would essentially be a high school level opponent, they'd rightfully get shit for it.

Bad optics on the celebrations...none more than Rapinoes. But it’s past...at least until and if they get knocked out. Then it will be the “reason”.

I wouldn’t call it faux outrage. I just can’t stand some of the counter argument. “If your a quality opponent now you’re even more jazzed up to beat USA”. Wtf? It’s the fucking World Cup. You need something else to get you up for? Jesus H!

It was obnoxious optics in many ways. But I also think they shouldn’t stop what they are doing. Does this make the bullseye bigger? Can that bullseye get any bigger?

The only later goal celebrating I had zero issues with was Mal Pugh's first world cup goal. That is a moment for her. The rest, yea, I would have toned down a bit, but in no way would I condone holding back the scoring. Can't wait for today... Crush Chile as well.

Again life got in the way of watching the game in a way that the knockout rounds will not allow for. Yeah. That’s it.

Watched the highlights though. A few thoughts....

Carli Lloyd might just be our super sub when this gets to knockouts....but damnit she is still a complete monster out there. Wow.

Could have easily been 5 or 6 goals. Some amazing saves by the Chilean goalie in the second half. She was inspiring and we were giving her some tough shots.
