Since the womens soccer (and womens sports in general) haters have had their say.....and because first US game is today....how about a thread?

    Because.....USA USA and all that.

I did not read up too much leading through qualifying (for a national soccer team fan the Women's game just has us spoiled)....but here is a pretty good read on the overall team:

    https://deadspin.com/the-uswnt-is-better-than-ever-but-so-is-everyone-else-1835387119

I think the attacking and offensive half of the field could be utterly stellar. Having Dunn and O'Hara to go forward could create some interesting attacks too. I do think the center midfielders will need to try to stay back (at least come knockout rounds) and that could be a tough discipline for them.

Biggest gap in the team is center D and Goalie in my view. If opposition can get up the middle on attacks (especially on counters) and the center Mids are not back to help there could be a chance to torch us.

If we make knockouts I think there will be at least one game where we need to put up 3-4 just to win.

I was kinda hoping the "Total Loss of Interest in Women's World Cup" thread would ironically evolve into the de facto Women's World Cup Thread but this works too.

Mah girl Alex Morgan puts USA up 1-0 early off a nice serve from O'Hara! Wheeew

Look at Rob Stone trying to play it "cool" and say the US should have stopped scoring

I have not had a laugh quite this good around here in a long while! That was spot on!

As for the game....kind of felt like they should have turned it off after about 8-9 goals. What a mismatch.

Why? They need to play at tip top play when they play tough competition. This only helps them.. Need to remain hungry regardless of the score

Just got an ESPN alert with the final score. This shit is EXACTLY why I don't watch.

A run of the mill U-14 boys team would likely beat Thailand. How can anyone get excited about 13-0 in the WC?

I get this excited :wank: when I see Alex Morgan, but I'm guessing this isn't what you're talking about.
