At least they have the long FGs covered. Just turned it on. Many starters playing ?

Stafford played 2 series into the second q. Bills second td was their starters vs our 2nd team.

Overall thebstaryers seemed pretty decent. Both injuries looked bad though.

OK, now I know you are smoking better stuff then @broncosmitty. Packers are going nowhere. There is a good chance they finish dead last.
Since the Lions vs 49ers game in 2012... seeing Calvin Johnson running crossing routes while taking 2 or 3 defenders to the ball carrier for short yardage gains instead of heading down the field away from the ball, I haven't watch Lions games the same. I'm not seeing a team that's playing to win, only doin' enough to sell tickets.

Davis looked way worse.
Ragnow was walking around on the sidelines shortly after.

Agreed. Davis looked like an Achilles injury. Hope I am wrong. Ragnow looked like a high ankle sprain and he could still miss a whole lot of time.

Starters dominated. Bills only scored because the refs literally just put the ball on the goal line with 3 15 yard penalties 2 of which were total BS. Bills also scored a late 2nd qtr td with their starters versus our 2s. Our 2s still suck for the most part. We need more depth. The offensive scheme looked like and NFL offense for a change instead of the school yard nonsense of the last few years.

2 major injuries in areas we were already thin are going to put a major dent in this season. It looks like no playoffs IMO now. Our defense looks very solid but I dont think it will be enough. Extra thin at LB now. Not sure the O-line will be effective without Ragnow so the offense will be extremely compromised.

There's Stafford's new scapegoat. That didn't take long.

Come on, Ragnow.

You remember that one game where the other team got a fumble recovery for a long TD and Jim Schwartz threw the penalty flag so that it couldn't be reviewed or some shit? lol

The team finds new excuses or ways to lose every year.

This year I expect 8-8. We will have a couple wins against good teams which will allow upper management to keep Quinn and Fat Pat around another year. 2020 season will be 4-12, top 5 pick and new coach and GM so the fan base will have renewed "hope".

Looks like Ragnow has an anklensparin and Davis has a high ankle sprain.

That all looked much worse during the game.

Just read that. Wow, that is better news than I would have dreamed of. Thought for sure Davis had an Achilles tear. Ragnow I figured would be back, just was not sure if they would put him on the PUP. Now they are saying not even Davis on the PUP.

You probably wouldn't be surprise that I do remember the Texans game in 2012. Following the 49ers game (Calvin running crossing routes) in 2012 (Schwartz’s old Titans team) Stafford left the game with a hammy (90 seconds left down by 14). Shaun Hill was getting it done until Dominic Raiola snapped the ball in OT to lose the game. The following week the Lions got a RECORD for allowing Kickoff Returns and Punt Returns for TD's two weeks in-a-row (Titans and Vikings).
This year I expect 8-8.
The sandbaggers went 2nd three times and 3rd once in the division under Caldwell. I'm thinking one of two possibilities the Lions this year... The Lions bow to the Packers (win/loss record) for the 4th time or the playoffs. I'm not thinking in-between.

That's off-season talk for me. Stafford may call it quits after 11 years.

Ragnow I figured would be back, just was not sure if they would put him on the PUP. Now they are saying not even Davis on the PUP.

The only way they can go on PUP is if they hadn't practiced once during training camp. I made that same mistake of thinking similar until I looked it up. I was trying to figure out who in camp they wanted to keep without the IR designation.

What does PUP list mean for NFL players?

Players who start the preseason on the PUP list may not practice until cleared by team medical personnel. They can attend team meetings and work out. Once cleared, they can return to the field.

If a player practices during training camp, they are not eligible for the PUP list. Instead, the team has to cut the player or put them on injured reserve.

If a player finishes preseason on the PUP list, they can be placed on the regular season PUP list.

Players on the PUP list may not practice or play the first six weeks of the season. After the sixth week, the player must be allowed to return to practice, placed on injured reserved or released within five weeks.

If the player returns to practice, the team has three weeks to decide to place him on the active roster or on the injured reserve list.

Players on the PUP list do not count aginst the 53-man roster, but do count against the 90-man roster limit.

I think with the current injury to J. Davis you'll see Tavai takes his place at MIKE and JRM at the WILL. The latter pretty much already earned that designation according to camp reports of how well he's come along so far.

Tavai has already been the play caller during his 1st/2nd team reps for games so I don't think they'll make any changes regarding that while moving him to 1st team MIKE. Maybe you'll see Tavai pulled off the field during long passing downs while having a 3 down DL set. I would think JRM would be the lone true LB with a JACK and 6 DB's. Tavai's achilles heel is his pass coverage woes.

Football injury expert takes deep dive on injury to Jarrad Davis

with regards to Davis, although coach Matt Patricia has said he won’t be considered for injured reserve.

To gain some insight into Davis’s mystery injury, I spoke with my friend and colleague John Verros, who serves as the Injury Coordinator at Sports Info Solutions. John is a Michigan native and reluctant Lions fan who graduated with an M.S. in kinesiology from the University of Michigan. He is tasked with diagnosing hundreds of injuries each week for the company’s team and media clients. He also correctly diagnosed Ragnow’s injury, provided this scoop from Ian Rapoport is accurate.

BR: Thanks for taking the time to talk with me, John. Could you start by detailing the range of outcomes for Davis following his injury last night?

JV: Based on the injury mechanism [how it occurred], Davis is most likely dealing with a high ankle sprain. In the limited amount of time the broadcast showed the training staff evaluating him on the bench, you could also see them examining his Achilles tendon, which means an Achilles strain could be in play, as well. However, I don’t see an Achilles tear as likely after watching him walk around on the injured leg on the sideline.

There were also reports that they were conducting an MRI on his foot. I don’t think it’s impossible that he suffered a Lisfranc fracture based on the video, but I think it’s unlikely that he suffered a fracture based on the fact that we haven’t had any news yet. A mild foot sprain – similar to the one Cam Newton suffered – is possible but seems unlikely due to the mechanism of the injury.

It should be noted that the chronic outlook of a foot sprain/fracture would be less optimistic than that of a high ankle sprain.

BB_72; There's lots more to read beyond this if you wish to.
