I like the changes they made this year so whoever wins the Tour Championship also wins the Fed Ex Cup.
But to do this they kinda made it so that guys who had a real stellar year are not really getting that great of an advantage.

I highlighted some of the final Fed Ex points in red.

Looks at Brooks ..he ends up with 3119 points and only has a 7 stroke advantage on Jason Kokrak who only ended up with 1254 points. It seems a little wacky but I guess it would have to be.

It would have to be structured this way because you can't have guys 15 strokes behind ..they may not show up.

They keep tweaking this thing to make it better...I'm not sure if it is better, but they are weighting the playoffs so I'm not sure how or where the FedEx standings factor into this...I just watch the golf.

I have a free ticket if I wanted to take off Thurs or Fri, but both days I'm locked to this desk...I've been a few times already so no major loss I guess.

Well, that did not take long.

Xander Schauffele shoots 6- for the day and is now tied at 10- with Justine Thomas
So to convert that ..Xander earned the equivalent of 1500 fed ex points in 1 round.

They have set it up with points being very hard to earn during the season but then have to severely devaluate them at the end to make this Tournament work.

Thomas should have started at maybe 20- but they know they can't do that.

Can't please them all I guess.

Rory McIlroy doesn't sound thrilled with the new FedEx Cup format, $15 million first-place check or not - Golf Digest

I think Thomas was a very undeserving #1 seed going into the weekend. he didn't do squat all year.

The Fed Ex cup Playoffs is:

The Northern Trust ..He came in 12th
The BMW Championship ...He won that.

If the Jets squeak into the playoffs and beat the Pats in the first round ...do the Jets not deserve to be there?

Winning at the right time is practically everything.

My understanding is that it was based on a season-long rating system, is that not correct?

Looks like there are 5 guys with a shot today. I'd love to see Koepka win but really anyone but Justin Thomas will be good for me. Can't stand that guy and he had no business being the number one seed after the season he had.

what in the hell is that white thing Koepka has stuck through the top of his left shoe? It looks like a big hat pin or something.

Wow, McIlroy is really driving the ball well. He should win. I don't think Koepka can continue to save himself and make pars after his terrible drives.

Missing every fairway, eventually Koepka was going to crack and finally he did. Good job by McIlroy

Unbelievable season for McIlroy. I'm really glad he won the Fed Ex Cup.

Even with him winning twice this year including The Players ..it just felt like a bit of a disappointment.
But now winning the tour championship again ...it's the missing piece to make it a fantastic year.

And that birdie on 18 gave him the best final score even if you take away the 5- he started off with.

Rory is the first player to slay Koepka on the big stage. I would love to see those 2 go head to head for years to come in final groups.

Maybe Rory can get get his green jacket too.
