2018 fell short ... the offseason will see some guys go ... but 2019 has all the potential to be Bud Black's best season as Rox Skipper yet.

Rotation: The biggest consideration is the Rox entire rotation from this past season will return. These guys are younger and all are locked up through 2020. They were impressive this past season and will continue.

1. Freeland
2. Gray
3. Anderson
4. Marquez
5. Senzatela
6. Betts

Bullpen: The Rox spent a ton of money to shore up the pen last offseason and they completely underwhelmed. Regardless, the pen will see a lot of the same arms return for 2019. These guys are mostly chiseled vets who I would bank on making the proper adjustments based on what they learned from pitching at altitude in 2018.

Ottavino is a free agent, but Wade Davis will return as closer. Oh, Shaw, McGee, Rusin, Oberg, Dunn, Musgrave, Pounders, and Almonte, also figure to return as all remain under team control through 2020.

Catching: All of Ianetta, Wolters, and Murphy are currently slated to return, but I doubt all three remain on the roster to see Opening Day. Fact is neither of the above brings much to the plate, but a weak market means it's unlikely the Rox are able to seek upgrade. Many fans, (to include me), have long yammered for a Realmuto trade; however, the bigger and richer clubs are more likely to appease the Marlins in such a deal.

Infield: Unfortunately Ian Desmond's massive contract means he will return to 1B in 2019. His bat was way more "famine" than "feast" last season, but he's still got 20+ homer power. DJ is gone, sadly, but we can finally rejoice as Brendan Rodgers figures to slot into the Opening Day lineup. Ryan McMahon and Garrett Hampson are also younger players with solid defense and have shown flashes at the plate. With so much uncertainty surrounding Arenado's future in Colorado, Rox fans can expect the progress of the aforementioned McMahon and Hampson to be key.

Outfield: The sooner the Rox can move Blackmon out of CF, the better. Fans have a ton of suggestions, most of which aren't practical, but we have to think there's a free agent signing or even a trade that is possible. Dahl and Parra come back for 2018, as do youngsters Tapia, Cuevas, and Tauchman.

Rox Free Agents: DJ LeMahieu, Adam Ottavino, Matt Holliday, Carlos Gonzalez

Potential FA Targets: AJ Pollock, Adam Jones, Jonathan Lucroy, Robinson Chirinos

Rox are very active in the 1B market. Feels like a trade for Edwin Encarnacion or Carlos Santana is imminent. Freaking Edwin would hit infinite bombs at Coors.
