I love TK, but he's not on their level right? IMO he's not. So far he's a 25 goal scorer, 50 point guy. And he's not bringing defensive or PK prowess to the table either.

Point - probably 40g, 80+ point guy
Marner - 90 pt guy
Rantanen - 30g, 80+ point guy
Tkachuk - 30g, 70 point guy
Boeser - 25/65 guy, so maybe he's more in range. But he hasn't played a full season yet due to injury
Connor - 35g / 65pt guy
Laine - 40g/60pt guy

Maybe I'm under-rating him, but IMO he's a tier below the big RFA forwards. Those guys are line drivers / difference makers. TK so far has been a great wingman (no pun intended) to elite players in Giroux/Couturier.
I agree. If those guys get around $10 mill, then he comes in at $5 mill, if somehow they come in at $8 mill, then he is $4 mill.

Seems like TK may want a long term deal and the team wants a bridge deal.

Just effing great

I'm very disappointed that T.K. is not here," Alain Vigneault said after his first practice leading the Flyers. "It's the start of a new era, a new group, I felt that it was very important for everybody to be here.

"With my time in the NHL, my experience, anybody that falls behind — whether it's injury or in T.K.'s situation not coming to camp — usually it takes them a little bit of time to get back at it, especially at this time with a new coaching staff and new way of doing things.

So according to Capfriendly, this puts the Leafs 13.4 million over the cap. How are they going to make this work?

I don’t think the Flyers have the cap space to afford the cap hit that would come with a long term deal.

Check out the Injured Reserve section. That comes off the books 10/1.

Right, but they have to cap compliant on day 1. So do they have enough players that aren’t subject to waivers that they can bump down to ahl in paper moves?

Also, if my math is right, they will have no wiggle room for cap making any trade virtually impossible if they need to take on any additional salary

Several pages ago awaz found and posted the rules. Apparently there is offseason LTIR now, so you don’t have to do the paper moves anymore.

But you’re right, even with LTIR they will be right up against the cap.

Depends on how much per year you think he is worth on a 6/7 year deal.

Flyers have 6.7 available according to cap friendly, but they don't have the roster set. They've only got 10 forwards on there. Add 1M for Pitlick and .925 for Farabee (to be fun). They've got Gabriel in there, so we'll use him as the 13th. Carry the 8 dmen they have on there already.

That only leaves 4.775M. Which probably isn't enough for a long term deal, which is what Konecny wants. I would think long term would need to be 5-6M.

So that's probably the rub. Konecny wants long term at a higher value than the Flyers can afford. So the Flyers position is basically, take less than you want for long term, or take a bridge deal.

Flyers preference all along was probably a bridge deal. It gives them more flexibility up front in the short term. They've got Farabee, Frost, Ratcliffe, Konecny, Patrick, and Lindblom all looking for top 6 spots in the short term. They've already got Hayes, JvR, Couturier, Giroux, and Voracek signed for the next 3 years.

Won't make sense to keep all those guys in the relatively near future. They don't want to wed themselves to Konecny before getting a look at the rest of them. Unless of course, Konecny signs a major team friendly deal; which would add to his value compared to the other guys.

Sucks for TK, but I think that's smart by the Flyers.

Frost out with a lower body. Was supposed to play tonight, but won't. Not to over react, but given he probably wasn't leading the pack for 3RW, I would say that puts him as a likely Phantom to start the season. They've been playing him at C all camp anyway.

Lots of talk about playing a high tempo game. Fast pace practices etc.

That's very exciting to me.

It makes me sick that JVR is making 7 million and real players like TK have to beg for money. :puke:

Cant wait until they try low ball Hart because we are overpaying this ass clown for four more years.
