Didnt see a thread, so here we go.

Brodeur is a lock, Wickenheiser same.

After that I am guessing Turegeon and Alfie.

The Hall of Fame has turned into the Hall of Very Good - That said, I agree Dave that Brodeur and Wickenheiser are first ballot hall of famers, Alfie's international resume definitely helps his cause. As for Pierre Turgeon, very good player that cracked 500 goals and that's an important number to a lot of voters.

I'd like to see Willie O'Ree get in.

Not for his playing career obviously, but the guy's story is pretty amazing. And he's an awesome person. My son played with the local club that is Columbus' "Everybody can play" club and he came to speak a few times at events.

My 4:
Marty
Hailey
Zubov
Willie O

Turgeon? No. Alfie? Not yet.

Damn, I thought for sure Bettman would be inducted into the basketball hof before the hhof.

What a slap in the face to Willie to be going in with the shrew.

A guy who has presided over three work stoppages (and make no mistake, he's going for four) is inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame as a builder.

It's a slap in the face to the game. Lost two full seasons of hockey under his leadership. The Stanley Cup has a blank year on it.

That, plus the fact the game by all appearances is nowhere near as entertaining as it was prior to his leadership, more than trumps the fact that there are kids participating in minor hockey in some parts of the US that they weren't 20 years ago.

I feel the same about Bettman going in while he's still active in his role as I did about Pronger going in while still "playing" for the Coyotes.

That said, while we all hate him for the lockouts, it's not surprising that he gets in at some point. He's been commish for 25 years now and league revenues are up 1000% during that time.

Putting him in with O'Ree is the bigger slap in the face than the simple fact that he gets in, IMO. O'Ree should have been in years ago and I would have liked to see him get his day without having to share it or have it be overshadowed by this.

The only thing that would make Bettman's induction remotely tolerable is if it was in conjunction with him leaving as commish.

I thought Lanny became chair of the HHOF board of directors to avoid these types of blunders.

A player that Greg Buttons put on waivers ends up in the Hockey Hall of Fame. That's why he's a former NHL general manager, folks.

I'm an old curmudgeon, but Yakishev was probably the 3rd best Russian on that '72 team (behind Kharlamov and Tretiak). Clarke took care of Kharmalov with a two-hander that broke his ankle.
