There’s some belief that the Rays will land Cuban righty Sandy Gaston, according to MLB.com’s Joe Frisaro (Twitter links). Two other top players, the Mesa brothers, landed with the Marlins today. The Orioles had been seen as a chief competitor for these and other top young players who are eligible to sign rather than entering the draft. To date, though, the club has largely kept its war chest intact. Frisaro says it’s believed that it would cost Tampa Bay around $2MM to secure the amateur.

If that happens and Gaston goes to the Rays, what in the hell was the point of acquiring all of the international bonus pool money to start with?

Well, all three of the top international prospects are gone and not a single one signed with us. The more things change, the more they stay the same.

if I was the manager next year outfield would be steward lf mullins cf hays rf Santander bench . McKenna at aaa to replace who struggles . dam that would be a a + d as far as speed .

McKenna is doing awesome in the afl . we should get to see him in st with a chance to make the team . scouts say he is faster then mullins high obp and avg . so that would give us 3 true cf hays , McKenna and mullins with steward the 4 th outfielder and 2 lhb and 2 rhb . davis is dh nothing more or cut his ass . Trumbo also a dh only .

While I'm glad that they didn't rush things and just pick some random person, at the same time I didn't want them to go about picking a GM and a manager at a snails pace either. Hopefully the GM will be someone decent and not a yes man like Brady Anderson.

Left-hander Sean Gilmartin and right-hander Gabriel Ynoa, along with infielders Corban Joseph and Jace Peterson, will be outrighted to Triple-A Norfolk. While Gilmartin and Peterson have elected free agency, the club has agreed to terms with Joseph and Ynoa on minor league contracts for the 2019 season. The move leaves the Orioles with 36 players on their 40-man roster.

he is the guy not official gonna bring his sabermetrics guy with him mejdal . the o's are closer then we think a great pitching coach away and either fix davis or pay him off . steward , hays and mullins hell I would go yaz as 4th of McKenna at aaa. boom boom at first villar at short mountcastle at 3rd . leaves 2nd only base open maybe Wilkerson ? catcher go with the top 2 .

Schoop set free as Brewers GM cops to 'bad deal'
I'm sure we can probably get him for pretty cheap right now if he'd want to come back. Have him play 2B, Villar at SS, Mancini at 1B, Davis at 3B and Trumbo DHing. And if Schoop hits like he did a couple of years ago, we can flip him to another team for more prospects.

I’d leave Mountcastle at Norfolk and have Davis play 3B. I want Trumbo at DH so hopefully he can hit well and we can trade him for higher value prospects. I would like to see Mancini at 1B.
