Pre-season has started, time for a new thread.

Miles Wood needs to sign. I understand wanting to cash out after a decent season but come on, you put up 32 points. Given he doesn't log a ton of ice time. If he put up 50+ ok. Sam Reinhardt is younger, just put up 50 and signed 2 years $7.3 so that should set the bar for Wood.

Anderson, McLeod and Lappin don't make the cut. Brett Seney and Quenneville battling for a spot.

Apparently everyone likes how Mojo has looked, hoping he can stay healthy. He was essentially a no-show last year so a healthy Mojo is basically like adding a player this offseason.

Yes he is one of the wildcards. When healthy, he is a top six forward. He played ok monday night but it is preseason so not going to judge too much. Top line played very well with Nico, Palm and Hall.

Quenneville looks better compared to last year.

Ty Smith seems to be legit. Only 18 but very calm with puck as quarterback on PP and made some nice passes. I don't think he got cut yet but I would also be surprised he makes the team somewhat.

McLeod didn't have a great preseason. They gave him ice time and minutes but he didn't do much to earn a spot.

McLeod was hurt early last season, give him a full healthy year of AHL hockey to get going. See where he's at near end of the year.

Agreed.
Plus Quenneville more deserving to make team since he came into camp in great shape and showed some promise. Plus being older, makes sense to give chances to players like him while allowing McLeod to spend more time in minors.

I'm excited for Quenneville. We're all down on him because he hasn't cracked the lineup yet and he's a bit older but he was a first rounder, he's coming in with years of seasoning, there's a very good chance he's an improvement over Stafford/Hayes.

Didn't see the game (I'm out of the country), but everything I'm reading and hearing from buddies we looked really good all around.

Palmieri needs to stay healthy, guy just knows how to bury the puck. Zajac as a third line center is amazing. No points for Hall #HartHangover #Slump

How did our defense look? Kinkaid?

Kinkaid was sharp. Made some key saves. Defense I thought held up fine. Severson has skill but he just makes some bad decisions out there. The Devils got into some penalty issues early on which is why the Oilers tied it. McDavid is tough enough to stop 5 on 5 but give them a power play, he will make you pay. The penalty kill unit after that first goal did really well.

I think the best news is the Devils won with Hall not registering a single point.
