Serve it up: A food guide to the US Open

As much as I like trying food, I don't want to spend $16 for something at a sporting event.

The kind of food in this article is what I'd try when the meal is the star of the day/night.

Like when that's the big plan for the day.

When at a sporting event, I want something good but quick so I can get back to the game.

If you want good food, bring your own if you go to Indian Wells. The concession stands there are horrible.

Fed's side doesn't look too bad. Potential sharks are Tiafoe, Kangaroos and Thiem.

I went to Indian Wells in 2016. I remember having a hard time finding something I wanted. I might have finally gotten something, but for the most part just focused on keeping myself hydrated with the 4 bottles of 32 oz beverages I had brought.

I like Querrey draw. Should be able to make it to at least the 3rd round which would be a solid tournament for him.

Isner and Sock both with good draws as well.

Currently I'm expecting 3rd round for Sock and Querrey. 4th for Isner

Shapovalov could face Tsonga in round 2. Would be a tough test for Tsonga

Wow murray is out. Great opportunity for several guys to make deep runs here due to all the top players who dropped out

I thought we already knew Murray was going to miss it? I guess it wasn't official.

And now he's out. It's really bad that they can't redo the draw. They bottom half that Murray was in is wide open now.

They did change the draw around some. Cilic is in the spot Murray had, Querrey moved up to Cilic's spot, and Kohlschriber took Querrey's spot.

But honestly, if Sascha is what a lot of people think he is, he has no excuse not to make that final. This is his big chance. If I were his team, I would be thinking he should win the whole thing.

Men's Draw:

Nadal's Quarter:

I don't think Nadal will be troubled by Berdych, Monfils, or Dmitrov.

Federer's Quarter:

Federer vs. Youzhny 2nd round: I haven't seen Youzhny play in a while, so would be nice. Don't think he comes close to winning a set.

FED in 3.

Thiem vs. Karlovic 3rd round: Nice matchup of young vs. old. I like both players. Karlovic in 3.

Karlovic vs. FED QF: FED in 3.

Alexander Zverev's quarter:

Anderson vs. Zverev 3rd round: Zverev should win in 4, but Anderson has a small chance at the upset. He's a consistent top 30 player.

Querrey vs. Simon 1st round: Nice contrast of styles. I'd like to see Simon have another good run somewhere.

I'll pick him in 4, for the upset.

Isner vs. Mischa Zverev 3rd round: This is the year of Mischa. Mischa in 5.

Alexander Zverev gets through to the SF.

Cilic's Quarter:

Tsonga gets through to the SF.

Nadal vs. FED SF
: I respect how Nadal has beat FED on outdoor hard courts for their career.

This seems to be the year that FED wins though.

FED in 3.

Alexander Zverev vs. Tsonga SF
: Most signs point to Alexander Zverev.

I want to take a risk though and say Tsonga in 4.

Tsonga finally has another good GS run.

FED vs. Tsonga Finals:

Outside of the 2013 Australian Open, and 2011 Wimbledon, they've rarely played memorable matches at majors.

Tsonga has beaten FED 3x at Canada though (2009, 2011, 2014).

I'd hope this is a memorable match, but most likely it's FED in 3.

Poor Tsonga, this long of a wait to get back to a GS Finals (9 years( and he can't go all the way.

Women's Draw:

Pliskova's Quarter:

Maybe Lisicki, Kuznetsova, or Strycova can break through, but I'd still pick Pliskova.

Svitolina's Quarter:

Despite Kerber's inconsistent play, I still want to pick her to get through to the SF. Svitolina will be tough in the QF.

Kerber in 2.

Muguruza's Quarter:

Kvitova vs. Jankovic 1st round: Scary. If Jankovic wins, I hope she makes the 2nd week. But Kvitova in 2.

Venus vs. Wozniacki 4th round: It makes me sad because of how much Wozniacki has struggled this year against power players.

Venus in 2.

Kvitova vs. Muguruza's 4th round: I'm predictable in picking Kvitova at non-Wimbledon majors. Signs point to Muguruza, but I'll say Kvitova in 2.

Kvitova vs. Venus QF: Venus because of her movement. Venus in 2.

Halep's Quarter:

Halep vs. Sharapova 1st round: Even if Halep has never beaten Sharapova before, Halep has been a pretty good player this year.

Halep in 2.

I'll pick Konta to come out of this section. Konta to the SF.

Pliskova vs. Kerber SF: This is going to be one of those rivalries where one player doesn't beat the other 3 in a row.

This will be Pliskova's turn.

Pliskova in 3.

Venus vs. Konta SF: Konta should win this one. But I'll say Venus in 2.

Pliskova vs. Venus Finals: Can Venus really get through playing so many power players in a row?

Unlikely, but I'll still pick her.

Venus in 3.
