User named msteelcrazy is the winner of ESPN's Bracket Challenge. Really impressive bracket:

ESPN Tournament Challenge
Actually that is the best bracket but not the winner because they randomly select a winner from the top 1%. Pretty stupid because that is an impressive bracket as you said.

wait, what?! Then what's the point of playing if they are just gonna do this? Or did 1% have Nova winning and they have a "closer" score to the actual score?

There's two definitions of "winner". There's "winner" in the sense of having the best bracket, and there's winner in terms of "getting the vacation to Hawaii."

wait, what?! Then what's the point of playing if they are just gonna do this?

Well, you have to be in the top 1% of entries to even be entered into the random drawing. Still, agreed that it's definitely pretty dumb; ESPN should just award the Hawaii trip to the best bracket instead of doing the random drawing.

Or did 1% have Nova winning and they have a "closer" score to the actual score?

Naw, it has nothing to do with that. The championship game tiebreaker score didn't matter, as this msteelcrazy guy already had the untied best bracket.

Huh, so apparently the winner on Yahoo did even better:

- best on FoxSports: Alex S (49/63)

- best on ESPN: msteelcrazy (50/63)

- best on Yahoo: Feel the Brrrrn (52/63)

And the guy on Yahoo was really close on the final score tiebreaker, guessing 74-68 compared to real-life 77-74.

Oh I understand the 1% thing in order to qualify but it shouldn't be a "random" drawing after that 1%, that's just completely stupid

It is stupid, have the person who finishes 1st in terms of points be the winner.
