I think its becoming pretty clear how fine a line there is between being a playoff team and absolutely sucking in this league. Unfortunately, we're trending in the wrong direction.

Not sure if we're just getting old, stale, or some of the player losses mattered more than we thought, but this team looks nothing like the last few seasons. Our defense doesn't even look like a top 20 outfit after being a solid top 10 type team since Zimmer was around. The offense is comical. The team can't stretch the field, the line can't block, they can't run a running play that requires any sort of delay or misdirection or the backs get hit in the backfield. And if you look at our last few drafts, all the guys that should now be contributing are all looking like busts or average at best.

It's hard for me to believe that the talent on this roster just went away..... I find it more likely that after last year's painful exit from the playoffs that the coaches have lost pull with the players. Frankly, they look like a team going through the motions and a team that didn't bother practice. I know it sounds knee-jerk and typical to say we need to get rid of Marvin, but honestly it seems like it's probably time.

I attribute the decline to two things.

One, missing on the majority of our first round picks.

Two, losing quality assistant coaches.

Since 2011, I can count 2 first rounders that are even serviacble. Zeitler and Eifert. One guy is having a terrible season, the other is made of China glass.

That's very bad.

We have lost Zimmer, Gruden, Hue and Vance Joseph over the last few offseasons. And it shows. The more that's left on Marvin's plate, the more he proves he can't get the job done. People forget that Marvin was on the verge of being fired before he was allowed to hire quality assistants from outside the MB tree of cronies. He was a mediocre coach before. He's proving it again now that those guys have all moved on.

Players come and go. Assistants come and go. Mikey and Marv are always there. Ain't won a damn thing and never will. If it wasn't for gambling I wouldn't even watch this shit.

To me, Dennard is the most shocking first round failure..... He reminds me a lot of Keith Rivers. For both guys I didn't think they would necessarily be perennial all-pros, but I thought they would easily be high-quality starters. I figured Dennard would at the very least be a Leon Hall type player and maybe even better even better. Yet, he somehow makes Dre look good.
