I want to know what in the hell happened between the report of when he signed with the O's and then showing up in Chicago. Well I guess the people that were unhappy about losing that pick are satisfied somewhat since we got that 29th pick still.

Edit: saw about the opt out clause. That's just baffling.

Well its a huge risk for him. If he does awful this year he just flushed 20 million down the toilet.

I'm guessing he figures he's on a better team and will get better pitches. I guess having a good chance at the World Series doesn't hurt matters either.

Fowler ' s agent just ripped the O's front office, for "spreading false rumors ". If there wasn't an agreement in place, then why did Fowler and his agent not speak up? Almost 48 hours went by between the O's announcing the agreement and Fowler showing up at Cubs spring training.

Bye Felicia.
I see the O's made a "sincere effort" according to DD to sign Fowler however, the "Opt out" year was the sticking point. I guess I can't blame the O's for how they structure deals with no opt out but, how does one give up $20M in light of that? The Cubs are not winning a world series this year and given the Cubs current OF situation, the O's just made more sense. Either way, Fowler's agent looks like an arse which is why he is talking because his client did a 180 and didn't tell him obviously. Now trying to spin it in another direction to save face. It's pretty obvious.

Im glad the Fowler deal fell through. He would have been bumping heads with Buck and if that happen the buy out clause would have given him all his money. The Orioles (DD) did the right thing because Fowler wasn't planning on staying 3 years with the O's. Put Manny or Hardy at lead-off.

I just wish we had upped the deal to Cespedes to lure him to play RF. At least he wouldn't have costed us a draft pick and would've made the lineup even more dangerous.
