Press Release - Nashville Predators

Nashville, Tenn. – The Nashville Predators will begin the Peter Laviolette era in Smashville when they open the 2014-15 season on home ice against the Ottawa Senators on Thursday, Oct. 9. It marks just the second time in the last seven seasons the Predators will open a season on Bridgestone Arena ice, and the first time they’ll host an Eastern Conference foe in Game No. 1 of the season since the franchise’s first-ever game 17 seasons ago (Oct. 10, 1998 vs. Florida).

The Preds will play two more times at home (Saturday, Oct. 11 and Tuesday, Oct. 14) before heading on the road for the first time this season. Opponents for these two games and the complete 2014-15 season schedule will be released on Sunday, June 22.

Press Release

Nashville, Tenn. (June 20, 2014) – Nashville Predators President of Hockey Operations/General Manager David Poile announced today that the Predators will open their six-game 2014 preseason schedule on Sept. 23 at Tampa Bay, then play four consecutive games at Bridgestone Arena from Sept. 25-29.

After a game both on the road at Tampa Bay Times Forum (Sept. 25) and at home at Bridgestone Arena (Sept. 27) against the Lightning, Nashville will play host to a doubleheader against Florida on Sept. 27. It is the third straight training camp the Predators and Panthers have played a split-squad doubleheader, but first time Nashville has hosted the games.

The Predators will wrap up their 2014 preseason with a pair of games against former Central Division rival Columbus, first in Smashville on Sept. 29, then at the Blue Jackets’ Nationwide Arena on Oct. 4. The 2014-15 regular season opens the following week.

Damn, will be only the 2nd time we've opened home in 7 years? Didn't realize that.

Tough game coming up against LA, can't wait to get Fisher and Stalberg back.

Changed the thread title a little.

Huge game for the Preds tonight. It's a real chance to make a statement.

Cody Franson and Mike Santorelli are retuning to Nashville.

Maple Leafs send Cody Franson, Mike Santorelli to Predators | NHL | Sporting News

The Nashville Predators and Toronto Maple Leafs lit up the trade-rumor world Sunday with a trade involving defenseman Cody Franson and veteran center Olli Jokinen.

It was expected the Preds would bolster their roster, and that the Leafs would make sweeping changes ahead of the March 2 trade deadline.

The details:

Predators get: Franson and center Mike Santorelli.

Leafs get: Jokinen, prospect Brendan Leipsic and a first-round pick.

Franson, 27, and Santorelli, 29, both started their NHL careers with the Predators. GM David Poile brought in a defenseman with offensive upside and a versatile center who is an immediate upgrade for their depth.

Jokinen, an aging player with a $2.5 million contract, heads to Toronto as a short-term player. The Preds needed to move a contract because Franson is getting $3.3 million this season. Santorelli is on the hook for $1.5 million.

Weber is out the rest of the series, but could play IF we somehow managed to advance.
