Anyone the least bit interested? Do you even know where your team's first-round pick is?

Chicago has the #2 pick and there's no reason they won't go pitching. It will either be Gray from Oklahoma or Appel from Stanford.

Pirates pick 9 and 14th :D

Its hard to get excited about MLB draft, players are just so far away. I will be watching and I'd be loving it if a certain Borass client falls way down the draft board again.

I think only prospect nerds (like me) are interested in the MLB draft.

I am not sure I like the new rules of the draft, though. The slot-system was intended to curb the rising salaries of these kids who fail at an amazing rate, but it has had the side-effect of teams becoming more concerned with pool-management than pick-equity.

Not like that wasn't a problem before (Matt Bush, anyone?), so I don't know...

Appel would need to allow the Pirates to be able to draft him again, and I would assume he would not give that permission.

I wish that I was more interested in the draft but the draft pool itself is so huge that it's difficult to keep prospects straight when there are so many and I have limited time to research. With football/basketball, you are saturated with coverage, highlights, games themselves, etc... that you don't have to dig too deep to find multiple quality insights.

Mets should be looking for a bat. From what I've heard they'll go with a college player since they'll be able to make the jump in the next 2 years when the Mets look to contend. We already have decent pitching depth in the system and have taken some project players out of HS 2 straight years now.

I am looking forward to it. I was going to start a thread and use my baseball america subscription to add the scouting reports on the players that are picked.

Interested in that at all or is it more work?

If you wouldn't mind throwing the Mets picks in the ongoing Mets thread that would be awesome.

I would be interested, but I would guess that is a bit of work, so do as you would.

If you could make a point of posting pick #25, though, that would be especially appreciated :)

Do you recommend the baseball america subscription? Is it a good value?

It is expensive but the magazine is great and the content on the site is good too.

Depends on what you want to know.

I was hoping that Appel wasn't going to be selected at all. Oh well.
