Ironically, I'm Huston Street's biggest hater and before the ASG I'd for sure say he deserved to be the most overrated closer but not now. There's no way he's the most overrated.

Bleacher report is a joke. And they are horribly inconsistent with how they are doing their rankings here.

Obviously Hamilton and Pujols are on because they are overrated based on the standards previously set by themselves before being paid.

But then you have a guy like Guthrie. When has he been rated? Basically they are calling him overrated saying he's not as good as his current numbers.

Talk about opposite ends.

Also, Justin Upton is actually having a very solid year and recently been getting dark horse MVP talk due to Braves run(Freeman is still better canidate). Don't know how Dunn is overrated either, no one thinks much of him.

Not sure how you can call Andrus overrated. He plays stellar defense, and nobody ever claimed him to be an offensive force. He usually hits pretty decent for a ss and steals bases.

Yeah, I don't see how Street, Andrus and J. Upton are on this list. How about Papelbon, Castro and Melky instead?

Thats what Im sayin. Makes no sense.

Nobody rates the guy highly as is and he is having a very solid year considering hes a 3rd/4th starter.

Guthrie isn't even the most overrated on his own team. Wade Davis is so far(although he was solid tonight, against the Marlins.) He's got a 5.29 ERA and 1.72 WHIP. Yuck. Not exactly what KC was looking for when they traded for him (and Shields)

Ok, this may depend on a person's perspective. Wade Davis may be overrated in the eyes of a Royals fan, but i'm thinkin' no one else really cares enough about him to rate him at all. I don't mean to slight Davis or Guthrie, but they really are nothing special.

Most overrated pitcher in baseball is probably Sabathia. Of he didn't wear pinstripes nobody wouldve paid him any attention the last two or three years. Most overrated closer has to be papelbon.

Bleacher Report is indeed a very poor website.

If that's where this list came from I have lost all interest in it.

Before this season he had a 7 year stretch where posting a 139 ERA+, 1.16 WHIP, 3.75 K/BB, and averaged 227 innings a season...that's elite, no?

Guy has one bad year and all of a sudden he's overrated?

This season he has obviously been crap, but who is really talking about him this season? The three seasons prior to this, however, he has deserved the attention he has received.

From 2010-2012 he was 3rd in the AL in WAR, 4th in IP, 3rd in ERA+, 6th in OPSa, 3rd in OPS+a

In that time frame I would say Verlander, Hernandez, Weaver, and Sabathia were the top 4 pitchers in the AL. Since coming to the Yankees he has never finished higher than 3rd in the Cy Young voting so I don't think the writers are overrating him because he wears pinstripes.

I don't think anyone has overrated him in 2013 however. I think he is rated properly as having a very poor season. The quote I was referring to was the claim that Sabathia wouldn't have been paid attention to in the last two to three seasons if it wasn't for him being on the Yankees, which is false.
