I guess i'll start the thread on this. We have our first big news, as it sound like Andy Murray will likely withdraw. This avoids a big dilemma for the tournament, as it means Nadal won't be the #5 seed. If he were, they would have to make the hard decision about whether to give him a higher seed (which unlike the other slams, they never do) or risk having a match with Fed or Nole in the quarters.

Yup, and Nadal is kicking the crap out of everyone on clay again so I would expect him to win again here. No sense rocking the boat when you pretty much already know the outcome

So Murray, Del Potro, Fish, and Baker all will miss the tourney.

BTW what the hell happen to that guy Robin Soderling? Did he ever come back since that injury?

Well the draw came out today and Rafa/Djoker are scheduled to meet in the semis while the possible Mens QF are Djoker/Tipsarevic, Nadal/Gasquet, Fed/Tsonga, and Ferrer/Berdych.

I'm not sure Berdych get out of the first round as he faces Monfils.

For those who care ( I don't) the possible Women's QF looks like this: Serena/Kerber, Sharapova/Kvitova, Azarenka/Li Na, and Radwanska/Errani.

Any opinions on the draw?

Really interesting mens quarters IMO. Tips is tough but dont think he can beat Djoker. Gasquet is French but not as good on clay ironically so Rafa should spank him. Jo Willie gives Fed fits and on any other surface he would have a GOOD shot but clay negates so much of his game IMO. Ferrer should cruise to the semis IMO but Monfils could be tough for him if Gael makes it that far.

I'm loving the potential Nadal-Rosol matchup in Round 3. I really hope that will happen.

Venus is in trouble.

Down 5-4 in the 3rd but she was down 5-2 so she is not going down without a fight

She's playing well and has the whole match actually. Ursula is looking like her big sis.

FWIW, though, i've said for a year or so now that Venus should retire from singles to focus on doubles. She's barely in the top 30 in singles and clearly doesn't have the movement. In doubles, she could be the top player in the world for five or so years and greatly help her legacy by drawing attention to the dying doubles part of the sport.

(Match Point...and Radwanska wins).

Nice to see Hewitt choke away another match.

Hewitt needs to retire. Roddick was a much better player when he retired than Hewitt is now.

Speaking of retiring, James Blake should do the same. Very good performance from Querrey today. Hopefully he is able to make it to the round of 16 to make us Americans proud

The only good thing about the French is that it feels like the beginning of the tennis season. The Aussie is more of a tweener event that says don't forget about tennis, but from the French to the US open really seems like tennis season.

Yep this is the start of nonstop tennis from the French-Wimbledon-US Open Series-US Open.

Anyway I'm surprised Nadal lost a set today and also nearly lost the 2nd set.

What really pisses me off is when Tennis Channel & NBC decide to show the same exact matches at the same time.

What a match this turned out to be.

5-5 in the 5th set but Monfils is up love-30 on Berdych serve

LOL, I noticed that too. I also noticed they dont switch from one match to the other as much anymore either. They also showed the Nadal match about 17 times which is annoying. Like noone else played that day.
