SkinsDevil dominated waivers week 1 that season and pretty much coasted the rest of the season.

this was the first year of our point waiver system, and I was teh first to figure out that the best strategy was to make a 1 point bid on a ton of players, and have about 50% turnover week to week, until the season settled in.

Also, nobody was as on top of the waivers that year as we all are nowadays. Jeff Samardzija had fully 3 weeks of being an excellent fantasy WR before I made a low bid and won him. Prior to that, anybody could have claimed him for a point, but nobody did. Nowadays, if he had one good week like he was having, we'd be seeing bids of 20 or higher the very next waiver wire.

Also, late that year, I made a trade, a prospect for Brady Quinn, which helped me win the title. That's the type of trade that we later made impossible in what Q lovingly calls the RG3 rule

It's the RG3 rule.

no one had a problem with it until I did.

RG3 for Jake Locker.

RG3 won me a Heisman.

I think I won that deal.

That isn't true.

People had a problem with if after Skins traded Jonathan Stewart. I'd actually say that was the uproar more within the league then the RG3. Not like you won a championship, Skins did. ;)

Then after RG3 we saw it perhaps getting out of hand because Q would be trading away his 2 good players each year for a keeper. ;)

There was some commentary.

But nothing like the RG3 trade. Which almost broke KFFL.

if i recall correctly, (in fact, I'm nearly certain of this) I was the one who proposed what you have come to consider the RG3 rule.

and I didn't propose it as a reaction to your RG3 trade, but rather to the fact that it seemed that some players around the league were realizing that the best mid-to-late-draft strategy was not to draft players that they thought had the ability to break out and be sleepers that year,

but rather to overload on elite keeper prospects, in the hopes of trading them before the trade deadline to teams who were no longer in contention, in exchange for established players. But my vision for the league was to have the middle and late draft be dedicated to finding sleepers who would be useful that year, not for stockpiling prospects to later trade away for a championship run. it seemed to defeat the purpose of having the two keeper limit, if players had any incentive to overload on keeper prospects during the draft.

I remember thinking that Red Snow, in particular, was using that strategy pretty heavily. If any league member has a right to feel that the rule was targeted at stopping him, it's RS, not you. But, and I took special note of this and remember it to this day, RS voted for the rule change. He realized that it was the right thing to do for the league.

That was my purpose in proposing the rule. It had nothing to do with your RG3 trade. It had everything to do with a concerning trend in draft tendencies.
