It was a horrible mismatch.

Charles Barkley was out of his mind to pick Portland to win the series.

A little bit.

But, the Lakers weren’t playing well and Dame was on fire.

Lakers has no good way to guard Dame and CJ either.

AD is full of shit

I don’t know man.

He has enough money for 5 lifetimes already.

I am sure not everybody would walk away, but perhaps AD and a few others would.

"one of the best 8 seeds ever"

lol

yah. not likely.

I thought it would go 6 after game 1- but as a lot of people, including myself said before the series- the Blazers have no wings that can even get close to making a difference with LeBron and Davis.

when your 3rd best player is Nurkic- and i dont even know who your 4th best player is- you are DEFINITELY not one of the best 8th seeds ever.

I think the best 8th seed in recent history would have been Dallas.. Arent they the ones knocked out the no 1 seed?

Portland played one really great game for 24 minutes and the Lakers could have done better

Since 1983 the 1 vs 8, the #1 seeds are 67-5. In 2003, they extended the 1st round to 7-game series. It only happened twice from 83-03.

#1 - The first time it happened was the 94 Nugs were down 2-0 to the Supersonics, they came back and won 3-2.

#2 - The best 8 seed...without a doubt has to be the 99 Knicks who went to the Finals.

#3 - First time an 8 seed beat a 1 seed in a 7-game series. The Warriors beat the Mavs in 2007. They had Baron Davis, Stephen Jackson and JRich. Baron averaged 25 in that series.

#4 - Memphis took out the Spurs in 2011 where Randolph outplayed Timmy lol. Beat them in 6.

#5 - In 2012, the 76ers beat the Bulls in 6 led by Holiday and Iggy but DRose tore his ACL in Game 1.

there was a Griz team that took down the #1 Spurs if i am not mistaken. The baby Thunder took the eventual champ Lakers to 6 games one year--- and i think the Mavs pushed the Spurs to 7 but i dont think they won- but it was an amazing series.

look,

Lillard is great.

McCollum is probably a top 30 guy.

nurkic is probably a top 60.

after that? who is the next best player? do they have another top 100 player? its just gross.

their lack of wings in a league where you need wings was always going to be their biggest drawback. They had no one with length and athleticism that could guard a LeBron or Davis or Kawhi or George or whoever......not that anyone can "guard" those guys- but at least put up a fight.

The Blazers had some of those guys last year that could at least put up a fight and not be laughed at in Aminu, Harkless, Hood, etc.

In 2007 the # 1 seeded Mavs got upset by the Warriors. Other times the 8 upset 1.

1994- Nuggets upset SuperSonics 3-2
1999- Knicks upset Heat 3-2
2011- Girzzlies upset Spurs 4-2
2012- 76ers upset Bulls 4-2

Melo played some nice ball. Averaged 15 on 41% from 3 but offense wasn't the issue with Portland and never has been...until they get some sort of defense, a lockdown wing or something, this team will never take over as the West team to beat. The Warriors will be back too, they won't beat them let alone the Clippers and Lakers. Even with a lockdown wing, the rest of their defense is below average. Nurkic is nice offensive player and rebounder but he doesn't play much defense sucks as a perimeter defender, same with Whiteside. This team can't defend and even with their offensive power, they never will with this core. That's why I don't want the Cavs to go small with Garland and Sexton, bc even if both turn into stars they need some defense, probably gotta keep one or the other, or one is the 6th man. You need great offense, but you need defense to win championships. Portland is going nowhere.

That Thunder group could have won three or titles if the ownership had been willing to pay the players..That was so stupid

I don't think anyone, myself included, thought that the Lakers could put the lock on Portland's offense like they did.

They were averaging what? About 130ppg? The Lakers held them to 106.6ppg.

Even in the game the Blazers won, they only scored 100.

I'm just not sure you could pay all 3 + Ibaka. Plus Harden was coming off the bench, that wouldn't have lasted long either way with his talent.
